Youth Services Mission

Henry Street's Youth Services Division helps young people achieve academic success, develop their social, workplace, and leadership skills, and strengthen their emotional well-being. Each year, nearly 4,000 young people — ages 2 to 24 — benefit from our programs.

Early Childhood Services

Budget $1.1 M

FY 09• Our day care centers served a total

of 220 children in FY ’09, including 30 four year olds in our UPK classrooms.

FY 10• Maintain full enrollment at both

centers monthly.• Tracking promotion to the next

classroom within 6 month increments.

After-School and Camp Services

FY 09• Our after-school programs served

688 children across 3 school-based and 2 center-based programs.

• Camp Henry served 268 campers.

FY 10• Our after-school programs will

serve 1,100 children across 4 school-based and 2 center-based programs.

• Camp Services fees will generate $100,000 in revenue.

• Tracking grade level improvement, school day attendance, and parent/consumer satisfaction.

Adolescent ServicesBudget$2.5 M

FY 09• 163 young people completed Career Lab, and 168

youth participated in subsidized internships.• College prep services were offered to 135 seniors,

and 127 (94%) were admitted to college.• 146 students took our free Princeton Review SAT

course and boasted average score improvements of 200 point .

• The college program provided an all-time high 71 scholarships.

• 12,000 youth were served by PTI Peer Educators.

FY 10• 250 youth will participate in youth employment

programming, and 1500 youth will participate in the Summer Youth Employment Program.

• 400 youth will be enrolled in Expanded Horizons; 90 youth will enroll in SAT preparatory courses, resulting in an average gain score of 100 points, and 80% of the seniors in Expanded Horizons will be accepted into college next fall.

• 65% of YAIP participants will be in a positive outcome 9 months post-exit.
