•Preventing impairment of children’s health or development

•Ensuring that children are growing up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care

• Range of statutory functions eg SCRs; child deaths; communicate/raise awareness; develop thresholds, policies and procedures; monitor and evaluate effectiveness; seek assurance about accessibility and quality of training; and produce/publish an annual report on effectiveness

done by each person or body represented on the Board to safeguard and promote children’s welfare
