Did you know that it costs about $10,000.00 a year to produce our Big Valley Whistle! This very utilized little local paper helps the Village, businesses, organizations and individuals to get their information out to Big Valley and the surrounding area every week. Thank you to our Editor Kari Wawzkiewicz for doing such a great job as our Editor. We would also like to thank those organizations who donate to the Whistle every year for their advertising! You all make this little production a hot commodity. A Bit of History Harry Stuber one of top 100 Albertans
From the Stettler Independent, December 21, 2005
What do Kurt Browning, Jeremy Wotherspoon, Ron Maclean and Harry Stuber all have in common? They’re all among the 100 recipients of Alberta’s Centennial Salute to Sport and Recreation.
Chris Bourdeau, a spokesperson for Alberta Community Development, says over 250 nominations were received. All the nominees received various scores in various categories, and the top 100 combined scores earned the award. But it wasn’t just O l y m p i c m e d a l s t h a t w e r e considered. “It was geared not only to their influence in the community, but also their influence in sport,” he said.
