Zaidi ya Dreams Children’s Family Home Plans. Following a devastating fire that destroyed the Zaidi home and almost all of our possessions other than the pajamas they were wearing (amazingly no on was seriously hurt) we are faced with a housing dilemma for our children. A requirement of the government is that we must own or lease land for a minimum of five years. This has made finding a home very difficult. Lack of funding means we can not purchase land near adequate schools. We are very grateful that we have managed to secure a half acre plot with a fiveyear lease. The plot has basic structures on it however they do not form an ideal or safe living environment for the children. Given that we do not own the land we have decided the best way forward is to create a shipping container home. This plan uses three 40ft containers and two 20ft containers to produce a functional, adaptable and movable home for 20 children. The down stairs areas all living spaces. Up stairs we will use the roof space to create our therapy room as well as other purposes as the need becomes apparent. We have a large out door tent space that survived the fire and will be moved to the new location. This area is used for all art and and messy play. The garden will house play equipment, sensory play activity’s, a sand pit and a water play area. The existing structures need to be renovated. This will allow them to be used as class rooms. A third 20 ft container will be needed to house the office and computer room.
