OBJECTIVE: To highlight and uncover green field, brown field, current and pipeline projects for business and investment opportunities with specific focus on Mpulungu Port. The expected impact of Mpulungu and Bujumbura Ports Project is to increase economic growth and integration in the Sub region surrounding Lake Tanganyika. The aim of the Project is to provide improved lake port infrastructure facilities and accessibility to the riparian population. The total budget for this project is US$ 75,000,000, to be funded by the African Development Bank. Currently Zambia exports sugar, cement, steel and other commodities through the Mpulungu Port on Lake Tanganyika into the Great Lakes region. NB: Invited speakers and panellists will be presenting on green field and brown field projects on Mpulungu harbour, Rail, Infrastructure development, Hospitality and Tourism and other key sectors including the North South Corridor (NSC) Project, Trans Kalahari Railway Line Project, Chingola-Labito Rail Project, and Northern Circuit Road Projects. Once Mpulungu Port is fully developed it will unlock the COMESA – SADC Riparian Countries and the region. It will increase regional intra - trade and will require high volumes of transport and logistics to cater for the increase in demand.
