A Note from Don I received this information from the

school in Honduras that our club has

been helping. The first lady of

Honduras, Ana Garcia de

Hernandez, has pledged, for the first

time, to provide uniforms for the

students in this school year. The

money sent from our club ($300 +

$150 donation) will now be used to

buy shoes for the poorest students

identified by their teachers. The shoes

will be made again by a local

shoemaker, Wilfredo Aguilar, at a cost

of about $10 per pair.

Brother Ridgley and hnos Rotary

Club ZELIENOPLE. Recently we had the

visit of the first lady of the nation in

our school and she offered to our

students 2 uniforms of newspaper but

one of physical education, for that

reason the money that you very kindly

sent the day today in session is advice

of teachers we desidimos that the

dollars that sent the invertiriamos in

buying shoes, waiting that these days

arrive the promised by the first lady of

the nation.

Parents of students and

teachers are highly grateful to

all of you for always being

attentive to our school. We ask

the Almighty to multiply one

hundred percent his donations

to our children. Martin

Hernanadez y Nelson Castillo

I found that the first lady of

Honduras has a facebook page

- Ana Garcia de Hernandez. I

included this photo of

her delivering uniforms to

another school in Honduras

while campaigning for her

husband, President Juan

Orlando Hernandez.

Marie Grant – She is putting in a Rotary shirt order today.

Dan Fritch – Spoke about Zelienople Revitalization, saying the town council is doing a good job and much more is coming up.

President Ron Elliott – We are seeking nominations from members for the Grand Marshall of the 4th of July Parade and the Doc Viola Award. Let Ron know who you think should get these honors.

Mark Bruno said we’re 3 ads short for our Sponsor Boards. See Mark to help recruit businesses or others to fill these spots.

President Ron said several people recently had a meeting with District Governor Tom Chelgren. Ron urges us all to attend the District Conference May 19-21 in Punxsutawney. See the Rotary District 7280 website for more information and registration: http://www.rotarydistrict7280.org/

General Business and Announcements

Marie Grant submitted two bonus photos from the weekend: Left, Tom Grant with Sara Sheffes, the ROVA student sponsored by our club. Right, Tom with Sara and the guidance counselor at the Butler VoTech.

Ron promoted sales of Jack Daniels decanters, which are part of district fundraisers to end polio.

Tom Grant said a meeting to discuss a new satellite Rotary club will be held at the Passavant Community on March 8 at 9:00 AM.

Marie announced it looks like the part of the upcoming Friendship Exchange in which guests from the other countries come here will not happen until next year – although District members will likely still travel there this year.

George Villegas discussed the Zelienople Rotary website (www.zelienoplerotary.org). He said the current template is ending. He asked if anyone was available to work on this update. Mark Bruno stepped forward to work with George on this.

We received a ‘Thank You’ for our support of the dictionary distribution.

On May 6, we will do staining at the Zelienople Community Park.

President Ron had the lucky 50/50

ticket. He did not find the joker so the

pot continues to grow!
