That the Kaipātiki Local Board:
a) receives the confidential Special Housing Areas: Tranche 9 report.

That the Kaipātiki Local Board:
b) provides the following feedback to the Housing Project Office on the board’sviews on the proposed Special Housing Area site at 5-7 Zion Road, Birkenhead
i) the site is suitable due to the proximity to key community infrastructureincluding public transport and retail outlets.

MOVED by Chairperson K McIntyre, seconded by Member R Hills:
That the Kaipātiki Local Board:
c) expresses concern regarding the effect the proposal may have on car parkingin the area .
d) requests the proposal consider the car parking issues addressed in c) as partof detailed design to ensure adequate parking is provided within thedevelopment for resident and visitor use.
e) requests further investigation be undertaken on the following issues:
i) the effect on school capacity within the area, particularly BirkenheadPrimary School; and
ii) the effect of increased demand on recreation and leisure facilities withinthe area, noting the investigation of leisure facilities in Kaipātiki, includingBirkenhead Pool and Leisure Centre, is a priority project in the CommunityFacilities Network Plan but is not currently budgeted for in the Long-termPlan.
f) requests the Housing Project Office work closely with the Ministry ofEducation to address capacity issues at schools arising from intensifieddevelopments within Special Housing Areas and the local area generally.
