Shri Amar Nath Raina son of Shri Tara Chand Raina was born on April 14, 1923 inMohalla Nai Sarak, Srinagar, Kashmir. He had only one sister. He belonged to avery educated family and his father was Headmaster of the School.

He completed his B. Sc from Punjab University Lahore and started working in RadioKashmir, now Door Darshan. He got married to Kamla Razdan daughter of Shri GundjuRazdan and was blessed with four daughters whom he provided good education. His threedaughters were married in good families but the eldest one died more than a decade back. He was an intellectual person who rendered commendable services in Door Darshan. Hewas a good sportsman and a champion of volleyball. He remained captain of the team during his college days. He retired from service in 1981 and concentrated towards religious activities. He used to get up early in the morning and sit in Pooja Path for two tothree hours. During turmoil in the Valley, the family migrated from Kashmir in 1990 and had no place totake shelter. He suffered heavy loss of moveable and immoveable property and stayedwith his daughters at Jammu. He was greatly shocked due to death of his wife six monthsback. He breathed his last on October 2, 2017 due to diabetes. He is survived by his threedaughters and grand children. May God give eternal peace to the departed soul andcourage to the family members to bear this irreparable loss.
