Church Basement Ladies in You Smell Barn Ames Center From the basement to the barn, your beloved Church

Basement Ladies are back and getting busy with life

outside the kitchen. After the last of the hot dish is

served, the coffee pot is emptied, and the Jello molds are put away, these

steadfast, sturdy women head to their farms, peel off their good girdles,

and get on with their daily chores. In between picking eggs, milking cows,

and dusting knickknacks, they congregate with some of the other lovable

folks who inhabit this rural community: Earl, who delivers the mail up and

down Rural Route One; Fergus, the hired man; and Tillie, who chronicles

the action for the Fish County Weekly. With plenty of crazy antics, loads of

fresh laughs, and spanking new original songs, YOU SMELL BARN cele-

brates rural life in the 1950’s. And, at the center of it all, are your favorite

Church Basement Ladies. Whether you’ve seen several versions, or are

new to the world of the basement, the 7th in the Church Basement Ladies

series is a musical treat for all.

A buffet luncheon will be served before the play and includes: full soup &

salad bar, turkey breast with gravy, mashed potato, seasonal vegetable,

fresh bread & butter, assorted pie, coffee, water or lemonade. Registra-

tion closes Monday, October 8th or when full. We have reservations for two

buses – they may still fill fast so make plans now! Reminder – you will

need to load bus in the town you are registered.

A Christmas Carol - Guthrie Theater A Classic Holiday Theater Event at the Guth-

rie! Penny pinching and bad tempered old mi-

ser Ebenezer Scrooge goes on the adventure

of his life, from his past to his present and

beyond and learns that the value of gold will

never equal that of genuine love for his fellow

men. The classic holiday tale returns to The

Guthrie for the 42nd year with its beloved characters and message of

compassion, love and kindness and of course, Christmas spirit! Ever

since Charles Dickens first penned A Christmas Carol in 1843, it has seen

myriad stage adaptations and the popularity of this tale of redemption

and second chances has seemingly never waned. From stage to screen,

opera to one man show, it is one of the most influential Christmas shows

and a traditional holiday outing that defines the joy of the Yuletide period

for most of us. Don't miss this wonderful adaptation from Crispin Whittell,

with direction from Joe Chvala.

After the play, we will enjoy a delicious early evening meal at the Old Spa-

ghetti Factory. Your choice that evening for entrée, will include one of the

following: their famous baked lasagna, fettuccine alfredo or chicken mar-

sala. All entrées include a crisp salad, hot fresh baked bread, your choice

of iced tea, coffee, milk or soft drink and their signature spumoni ice

cream for dessert.

Deadline is Tuesday, October 16th or when full. Please note, we will walk

three blocks from the Guthrie to the Old Spaghetti Factory.

Long-Term Care Insurance - Does it make sense? Long-term care insurance has changed drastically over the past few years.

Find out how. Does this product make financial sense (especially the brand

new hybrid/combo policies)? This advanced class is for those who have

already have it. This class shows how to accurately compare the cost-

This class will provide the analytical tools to help you decide if you should

even consider buying a policy - or if you should keep your existing policy.

Energy Healing 101 Our seven energy points in our body are no laughing matter. In fact, they

are largely responsible for the real disease and stress we experience.

Reoccurring headaches, bronchitis, chest pain, anxiety attacks, an inabil-

ity to be intimate, how we communicate with others and even the occa-

sional eye twitch can be triggered by an energy blockage. We can control

and fix the issue, all by the means of chakra balancing. Those migraines

you get every December have you feeling blue? You may want to give

chakra balancing a try. It’s safe, natural, and one of the healthiest ways

to heal your body and mind, free of harsh medicines that can create oth-

er problems.

In this class you will discover how balancing your chakras and clearing

your energy fields can help support your body’s natural ability to heal and

create a sense of well-being. “Energy medicine is the next great frontier

in medicine!” (Dr. Mehmet Oz) There will be a chakra meditation at the

end of class.

ATV Safety Training Class

The Goodhue-Bellechester Rail Riders will be holding two ATV safety

Training classes on Sunday Sept. 16 at 11am or 1:30pm (with registra-

tion 30 min. before). Classes will be held at the Bellechester American

Legion and will last 3-3 ½ hours. Originally these were set up for 11-15

year old's. However, last year the state legislation passed a bill that 6-10

year old's would be allowed to do the training also. Our club has decided

that it is most important to get the kids certified who really need it to

drive on the trails now, since the certificate is not valid until the students

turn 12. So now through Sept. 1st we will just take registration for 11-15

year old's, and then starting on Sept. 2nd, we will take registration for any-

one age 6 and older. The pre-class work is done on-line at http://

www.atvcourse.com/usa/minnesota & MUST be done before coming to

the class. The cost of the online training is $29.95. After the kids have

passed the hands-on ATV safety class with us, you will need to go on-line

to the DNR website with the form we give you and pay the DNR $10 and

print off the certificate. If you would like to register your child, please e-

mail (preferred method) Paula Wagner at pwag-

[email protected]. The state law states: anyone

who was born after July 1, 1987 must have a certifi-

cate to drive an ATV on public lands, trails, & when

crossing road right of way. PLEASE NOTE: We ask

you to bring your own ATV if possible. The Kids need

to FIT the ATV they will be driving according to the

guidelines. If they do not FIT, they DO NOT drive (or

take the course).
