Student Nurses dared to uphold professional Ethics

ZUNO Out-going President Thom Yung'ana has challenged

student nurses to uphold ethics and help advance nursing standards in Zambia.

And in-coming President Liseli Sitali has further urged the students to be proud of their profession and reiterated the need to uphold integrity.

The two leaders said this when they addressed a group of 2nd

year students from Mukinge School of Nursing based in North Western Province who had visited ZUNO HQ on January 7, 2016 for a familiarisation tour of the nurses union.

Mr Yung'ana noted that, in as much as remuneration is essential for every worker, it should never be a sole purpose for service in nursing, as satisfaction in the profession goes beyond a salary.

Meanwhile Mr Sitali also urged the students to take an interest in current affairs and place themselves for positions of advocacy for the nursing profession. He further encouraged them to embrace continual personal development beyond formal education. ZUNO further donated a mobile Library to Mukinge School of Nursing. The books are expected to help the students to access relevant study material that will keep them abreast with new trends in nursing.

The Students were accompanied by their Principle Tutor Aaron Banda and Mukinge Hospital Senior Nursing Officer Charles Mulenga.

The students are in Lusaka for a six weeks specialty training in Mental Health at Chainama Hills Hospital.

During their tour the students meet with the ZUNO leadership in the recently completed Multi-purpose Conference Hall @ZUNO HQ
