• Are you importing new code tables, constituent codes or attributes?- CONSIDERATION: Go to “Administration” to set up any codes pre-import

• If using The Raiser’s Edge, will the Integration meet your needs?

• Consider how frequently you will import data into ResearchPoint

- Select the fields that you would like to import- Choose from Constituent, Giving Summary, Education & Modeling Batches- Use “Generate Import Header File” feature to standardize your import file

2. Prepare .csv file- Export/pull data from your fundraising database (or other location)- Use “Generate Import Header File” feature to standardize your import file- Make sure to include all required fields

• Ex. If importing addresses, Address Type, Address Country, and Primary Address? are required fields

3. Import .csv file- Import the file into ResearchPoint for validation- This process does not actually add your data into the systemp y y y- Alerts you of possible exceptions or issues with your import file

4. Commit the Batch- Committing will add the data into ResearchPoint

TIPS FOR USING IMPORT IN RESEARCHPOINT

• Unique “Lookup ID” is required for updating existing prospect records (and is recommended in new prospect imports)

• If using multiple batch templates for an import, all of your information can be prepared in one .csv file

• Use “Generate Import Header File” to format your csv column headers – this will• Use Generate Import Header File to format your .csv column headers – this will make the import process smooth

• Always test the import on 1-5 records before importing your entire fileIf successful remove these individuals from final import- If successful, remove these individuals from final import
