delighted to announce the official launch of a series of auctions with the Royal British Legion
similar to that I organised after the Falklands War. The first of these will be held in September and
there will be worldwide publicity. Funds raised over the years commemorating the Centenary of the
First World War will be in support of the Legions Medical Research into Blast Injuries Studies with
Imperial College London.

We are unable to accept cash payments in excess of £5000. Cheques must be cleared before the

131 King George VI Distinguished Service Medal A scarce Submariners
Casualty Group awarded to C/MX 51374 ERA CL.2 Roderick Lynch, HMS
Thunderbolt. He was born March 1913, Tynemouth. Married with one
daughter. Posted to HM Submarine Thunderbolt December 1942, serving in the
Mediterranean area. She completed six patrols, sinking 13 enemy vessels and
one Italian submarine. HMS Thunderer was posted missing 28 March 1943
near Messina, death presumed. He was awarded the Distinguished Service
Medal for operations 'Principal' and 'Welcome' when British Chariot Midget
Subs attacked Tripoli harbour. No known grave, remembered on the Chatham
Naval Memorial. Note: HMS Thundered was formerly HMS Thetis which sank
with all but 4 hands on it's maiden voyage in 1939. NEF.
