Data management to support QLA• The role of data management within RAISEonline to

support QLA• Entering the pupils into the system with common transfer

files (CTF) This should be carried out using a CTF produced from the schools own

MIS

• Common CTF difficulties experienced by schools Most problems begin with schools MIS data sets Incomplete data sets Conflicting data sets Confused data sets

• Copying school cohorts using the data management functionality

Not advised as the best practice because pupil characteristics and context may change even if pupils remain the same


QLA Templates• Downloaded from RAISE• Cohorts must be uploaded first using a CTF• Item level responses entered into the template• Enabling macros

These must be enabled to ensure correct upload of QLA data

• Entering item level responses into the mark templates Type in marks as though to a spreadsheet

• Entering blank responses These must be entered as N Note that blanks will not be uploaded to the system

• Uploading populated QLA templates


To download the QLA template click on ‘Import data’, then ‘Download example templates’ then ‘QLA’


Question Level Analysis templates can be found in here


Macros must be enabled to ensure data is uploaded into RAISE


All marks must be entered, if there are any blanks the results will not be uploaded into RAISE

Where a pupil didn’t attempt a question ‘N’ must be entered


An error message will be displayed if an incorrect character is entered


If there are blanks in the template an error message will be displayed when trying to save the document


To import the QLA template click on ‘Import data’


Click on Question Level Analysis


Use the ‘Browse’ button to navigate to the QLA template


When you have navigated to the QLA template click on ‘Open’


Click on ‘Upload File’


The page will refresh and you can ‘View Report’

In this case the message displays ‘Completed with result type No’


This time the message displays ‘Completed with result type Yes’


We can now use the QLA wizard to navigate to Question level reports and graphs


In this example we have navigated to a KS2 2006/07 Maths test A topic report


This graph is displayed at the top of the screen and shows the % Correct Responses for each topic for Maths test A for both School and National


Underneath the graph this table is displayed which shows the school data and compares this with National data showing the ‘% Differences from National’


When we choose the Pupil List report from the QLA wizard it displays the ‘% Correct responses’ for each pupil broken down by topics also showing the overall ‘% Correct Response’


When clicking on a pupils % correct response figure we are shown a radar graph showing that pupils performance


This information is also shown in a table below the radar graph also showing the differences from National
