CLIMATE SUMMITUS-CHINA INITIATIVEJHCGA's flagship project reflects Wyoming's role as
the U.S.'s largest producer of coal, the global need
to reduce carbon emissions from coal, and
opportunities to help Wyoming and other
economies dependent on coal make the transition
to a more diversified and clean energy future.
Since 2003, in partnership with Shanxi Province,
China's leading producer of coal, JHCGA has
brought together policymakers, private sector
leaders, and technical experts to explore shared
collaboration in the reduction of carbon emissions.
INTERNATIONALPARKS ALLIANCEIn response to requests from Jackson Hole
residents and China partners, the Jackson Hole
International Parks Alliance (JHIPA) will strengthen
U.S.-China bilateral relations and commitments to
climate change action through joint
commemoration of the Obama-Xi climate accords.
JHIPA will help build shared approaches in natural
conservation, eco-system management, livability,
and people-to-people relations. Why? China is
actively searching for partners in national park
development and management, and Yellowstone is
a top destination for Chinese tourists. Grand Teton
and Yellowstone National Parks want to better
engage Chinese tourists, and the state of Wyoming
seeks tourism revenue to achieve economic
diversification goals.
