    EDITORIAL DESK

    I extend my warm gratitude to all my readers.

    It gives me immense pleasure to introduce the 4th

    and

    the last trimonthly newsletter of academic session

    2015-16. It is a matter of great pride for all of us as

    we have successfully completed this academic year

    and we are entering into new ones. We Atmiyans

    have always been a great facilitator for our students

    as we have been providing quality education with

    moral and ethical values and now we are expecting

    that these quality based education will be multiplied

    In new academic session as we are now well

    equipped with the best Infrastructural facilities in the

    town.

    As we all know, a magazine mirrors a school‟s aims

    and objectives. It also highlights events, activities and

    achievements of students. I do hope the newsletter

    encourages many more students to use it as a platform

    to express their creativity.

    Once again, we express gratitude to the Management,

    Trustees, the Principal, and Educational Advisor and

    last but not the least, our ever supporting colleagues.

    ACTIVITY CORNER

    Essay Writing Competition for STD

    VI to XI

    4th Jan 2016 Atmiya Vidyapeeth had organised a Class wise Essay

    Writing Competition on 4th January 2015 on various

    topics to improve the writing skills of students. There

    were two groups, Group 1 (VI to VIII) and Group 2

    (IX to XI). The topic for Group 1 was “Role of

    Education in Promotion and Protection of human

    rights” and the topic for Group 2 was Human

    Trafficking. The students took part in the competition

    very enthusiastically and the winners are:

    Work shop on Yoga

    04/01/2016

    “Yoga is not a religion. It is a science; science of

    well-being, science of youthfulness, science of

    integrating body, mind and soul.”

    Yoga is about clearing away whatever is in us that

    prevent our living in the most full and whole way.

    With yoga, we become aware of how and where we

    are restricted in body, mind, and heart. Whole

    practicing yoga on a daily basis we start to feel more

    harmonious, more at one with ourselves. A work shop

    was organized by Atmiya Vidyapeeth to convey this

    message among students of STD IX, X and XI, in

    which Mr. K.C GUPTA, retired Electrical Engineer

    from Hissar, Haryana, taught the techniques to

    sharpen the memory and concentration power.

    He shared the scientific reason behind saying

    “Namaste” and discussed with the students as how to

    improve the hand writing and Calligraphy. He had

    shared the benefits and importance of doing

    „Pranayams‟ and „Asanas‟ on a regular basis for

    treating many diseases like Diabetes, Asthma,

    Hypertension, Obesity etc. Students had patiently

    listened to him and enjoyed a lot and felt relaxed

    while doing „Pranayam‟ and inspired by the work

    shop.

    Makar Sakranti Celebration

    (13/01/2016) Maker Sakranti is all about prayers, sweets and kites.

    This festival is celebrated with great zest and

    enthusiasm all over India. The same passion was

    shown by the students of Atmiya Vidyapeeth.

    The program was inaugurated by our Chairman Mr.

    Vinod Chawda by flying kite. All the students brought

    colourful kites and had enjoyed flying them. Each kite

    was flown with the message to spread the awareness

    of celebrating Makar Sakranti all over India.

    Apart from kite flying, there was a kite making and

    decoration competition organized by the B.Ed trainees

    of Dr. HR Gajwani College of Education. Students of

    class VIII and IX have participated excitedly and had

    made beautiful and colourful kites.

    Republic Day Celebration

    (26 Jan 2016)

    The 67th Republic Day was celebrated in all its

    solemnity and grandeur at Atmiya Vidyapeeth on

    26th January 2016. The students saluted the National

    Flag and pledged themselves to uphold the honour

    and integrity, diversity and uniqueness.

    The students were dressed in the uniforms of the

    houses they belonged to for the hoisting of the

    national flag at the parade ground. The flag hoisting

    was followed by a march past.

    The choir group presented the patriotic song and the

    whole school joined the choir and the song

    reverberated in the surroundings. It was followed by a

    beautiful patriotic dance which filled the hearts of

    every Atmiyan with pride and honour. The

    melodious music and graceful movements of the

    dancers were spellbinding.

    Students delivered Republic Day speech about the

    Constitution of India and the Fundamental rights of

    every citizen. Following the words of our PM Mr.

    Narendra Modi about „Swach Bharat‟; Atmiyans had

    performed a dance drama on the theme „Swach

    Gandhidham‟ with an amazing energy and vigour.

    The programme concluded with a very inspiring

    speech given by the Principal Ms. Rajani Joshi. She

    passionately spoke about the importance of

    Constitution of India and made students aware about

    its value in everyone‟s life.

    Road Safety Week

    Expression Series

    (24th Jan 2016)

    National Road Safety Week in India is organised

    every January by the National Safety Council of India

    (NSC). „Celebrating The Road Safety Campaign‟ was

    initiated in order to make people aware about the

    National Road Safety in the Indian subcontinent. The

    aim of this campaign was to emphasize and

    accentuate people about the need of safe roads travel

    by applying just simple rules.

    Atmiya Vidyapeeth had also celebrated Road Safety

    Week with the theme “Road Safety – Time for

    Action” through a Fancy Dress Competition. Students

    of STD I to V had participated in the competition and

    came beautifully dressed as traffic lights, traffic

    police, road safety signs and many more to give

    awareness on the road safety measures.

    Students also shared their views about encouraging all

    the travellers to follow the traffic rules and wear

    helmets and seat belts while driving. An exhibition of

    National Highway was organised in AVP to make all

    aware about the speed limit of the vehicles to prevent

    road accidents, to aware people that do not drink, do

    not drive when tired and do not use phones or radios

    while driving.

    The competition ended with a note “Prepare and

    prevent, don't repair and repent.”

    Blessing Ceremony for X STD

    (18/02/2016)

    Showers of Blessing on Atmiyans of X

    Std………………. Atmiya Vidyapeeth had organized a colorful and

    heartrending blessing ceremony for 10th standard

    students as they are going to appear their board

    exams. The programme began with an invocation

    song to motivate the students followed by the "Tilak"

    ceremony, where ninth standard students wished their

    seniors all the best. A mime Show was presented by

    the students of VIII in which they depicted the „do‟s

    and don‟ts‟ regarding exams and they conveyed the

    message of Punctuality, Neat presentation of paper

    etc.

    Mrs. Tripti Nagar ma‟am urged the students to be

    achievers and aim for the best. They inspired

    students for the success without fear and with a

    positive attitude. The students of X standard students

    sought blessings from all the management and the

    teachers to do their best in exams.

    Expression Series – India of My

    Dreams

    (28th Jan 2016)

    “Dreaming permits each and every one of us to be

    quietly and safely insane every night of our lives.”

    India of my dreams is a topic, which is as wide and

    deep as universe and to write about this subject is like

    “romancing” with India. There is so much to dream

    about India; so much to cherish, so much to cheer, so

    much to hate and so much to desire about it.

    Atmiya Vidyapeeth had also celebrated the expression

    series on “India of my dreams” on 28th Jan 2016

    where the students of STD VI to VIII had participated

    in the poster making and slogan writing competition

    wherein the students had expressed their views not by

    words but through their feelings displayed by colours.

    Students had expressed their views on India of my

    dreams as free from corruption, communalism, to live

    up to the ideals of our Constitution, to develop

    agriculture, irrigation, roads, industries and

    infrastructure facilities, to achieve scientific and

    technological progress in all fields, to be aware of

    sanitation, pollution control, judicious use of water,

    electricity and other amenities and to avoid problems

    not only to the present but future generations too.

    Workshop with Teachers

    (09/02/2016)

    Workshops provide a good platform to address some

    academic issues, challenges, problems and doubts

    that support the teachers to get deeper understanding

    on subjects and concepts. In connection with the

    same thought, a workshop was conducted on

    09/02/2016 at Atmiya Vidyapeeth for the teachers of

    mathematics and IT to overcome with some

    pedagogical implications while dealing teaching

    these subjects.

    All the math teachers and IT teachers of our school

    were a part of this workshop. The main objective of

    the workshop was to equip the teachers with varieties

    of activities in teaching and learning especially in

    Math and IT and to prepare concept /mind map,

    design worksheet and to know learning gaps. He

    explained that workshops offer opportunities to

    practise skills with numbers, shapes and concepts in

    exciting, imaginative and interactive ways through

    GSP software. He also opined that the prime focus of

    teachers should be to cater to the individual

    differences and the uniqueness of each child. As each

    child is gifted with special knowledge and skills, it

    becomes imperative for the teacher to demonstrate,

    guide and nurture the out-of-the-box, critical and

    lateral thinking skills. The workshop has re-defined

    learning of Mathematics and IT and the efficacious

    ways discussed to teach the subject are simply

    unparalleled.

    Assented the Eastern Border area where the soldiers

    stood stubborn to protect our Mother Land. A closing

    ceremony was arranged to give tribute to soldiers,

    and a rally was formed which highlighted the

    academic excellence, modern library, well equipped

    laboratories and the cultural events that took place in

    the academic year.

    The day ended with a cheerful note, heralding the

    year 2015, also filled with promises for all the young

    sports enthusiasts.

    Celebrated Basant Panchmi

    (12/02/2016)

    Basant Panchami referred to as Saraswati Puja is

    commonly associated with Maa Saraswati, the

    goddess of learning, wisdom and knowledge. To seek

    the blessings of Maa Saraswati and to attain

    enlightenment through knowledge, children at Atmiya

    Vidyapeeth celebrated Basant Panchami on 12th

    February 2016.

    A beautiful corner decorated in yellow for the

    Saraswati Pooja, where the students offered yellow

    flowers and prayers to Goddess Saraswati to seek her

    blessings to remove the ignorance and enlighten their

    path with wisdom. They were told about the

    significance of the „Lotus‟ the book and the Veena

    held by the goddess, signifying purity of heart,

    knowledge and music respectively. A student had also

    delivered a speech along with a poem to throw light

    on the significance of celebrating Basant Panchmi.

    Basant Panchami also marks the onset of the spring

    season. The vibrancy of spring came to life and

    yellow turned out to be the colour of the day. It was a

    delight to watchers dressed up in colourful clothes for

    these just the celebration. The aroma of marigold with

    the mix of sandalwood created a scared atmosphere

    and the celebration ended with the distribution of

    sweets.

    Gold medals 18 Silver medals and 7

    Bronze medals!!!!!!!

    The students of Atmiya Vidyapeeth had participated

    in 4th WADOKAI Kutch Dist.Karate Championship-

    2016 organised by Karate Association of Kutch at

    Y.M.C.A Gandhidham on 14th Feb, 2016 and won

    gold, silver and Bronze medals.

    The colourful presentation of Hindi Play „Eklavya‟

    took everyone on a historical journey depicting the

    relationship between a teacher and a student. The

    well-knit script of the English Play “Little Red Riding

    Hood” depicted the values of obeying your elders.

    The tiny tots have spread the message of moral values

    through a dance presentation along with the Gurus of

    Peace in which the kids dressed up like the role

    models Mother Teresa, Dalilama, Mahatma Gandhi,

    and it was well appreciated by the audience.

    At the end of the function the guest of honour Mrs.

    Anju Khothari director of Happy Hours (Play School)

    appreciated the performances and talents of tiny tots

    and nicely explained the meaning of „Atmiya‟ as

    „Near to God‟. The parents shared their views about

    the teaching methodology and co-curricular activities

    of our school and were extremely satisfied with the

    school system. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by

    Educational Advisor Mrs. Tripti Nagar and the

    function came to a close with the rendition of the

    National Anthem.

    ATMIYA KIDS CORNER

    Annual Function of Atmiya Kids on

    24 Jan 2016

    Nurturing the kids along with

    Metaphysics of moral values…….. Atmiya Kids, Adipur, celebrated its Annual Function

    with the theme “Metaphysics of Moral Values” on

    24th Jan 2016. The function commenced with

    enlightening of the lamp by Guests of honour Dr.

    Sushil Dharmani, Dr. H K Kriplani, and Mrs Anju

    Kothari. The occasion was also graced by the benign

    presence of our Chairman Mr. And Mrs. Vinod

    Chawda, our Manager Mr. And Mrs. Hemant

    Kachadiya, trustee members Mr. And Mrs. Kalpesh

    Bhadra Principal Ms. Rajani Joshi and our

    Educational Advisor Mrs. Tripti Nagar.

    The programme commenced by appreciating the tiny

    tots for their academic and overall performance for

    the previous year. It was a proud moment for the

    toppers who were felicitated by the chief guest on this

    day.

    Extending a warm welcome to all the distinguished

    guests, the Principal Ms. Rajani Joshi exhorted that to

    build a strong future; we need to honour and value the

    legacy of the past. The school Annual Report was also

    presented by the school Principal highlighting the

    achievements of tiny tots in various fields.

    Thereafter, the programme continued with the foot

    tapping music along with colourful costumes and

    well-coordinated dance steps by the little children

    which put a smile on everyone‟s face.

    (20-01-16 to 23-01-16) Students of Atmiya Vidyapeeth had participated in

    Khel Mahakumbh organized by Maitri

    Mahavidyalaya, Adipur to develop their inner

    potential and showcase their talents. Total 9 teams

    participated in Under 13 girls‟ volleyball team in

    which our school secured first position in Taluka level

    and also selected for District level. Along with it, 34

    teams participated in Under 16 boys Kabbadi team on

    22/01/2016 and our school secured first position and

    the students are also selected for the District level.

    Is present education system only aiming to

    create employment?

    In today‟s competitive world education is necessity

    for man after food, clothing and shelter. Education is

    the solution of any problem; it is the only education

    which promotes good habits, values and awareness

    towards anything like terrorism, corruption and much

    more. Education is the most important factor for the

    development of human civilization. Education

    provides the nation with man power, promotes

    national unity and uplift public awareness. Nation

    needs different types of man power such as doctors,

    engineers, teachers etc. Education provides nation

    with such working hands. If people are educated then

    they will not follow evil and dead tradition, Thus in

    order to uplift the degree of awareness, education

    plays a vital role. Educated people can reform the

    society and they can understand what is wrong and

    what is correct on the basis of their knowledge.

    It is true that education is necessary for the employee

    to get professional knowledge of the subject. And

    nowadays the employer seeks only such

    professionals who have the educational and

    professional skills because of this the persons are

    forced to get education related to its profession. Thus

    education has impact on both the living standard as

    well as professional life. Hence education should not

    only be considered as the mean of creating the

    employment rather it should be considered as the

    mean of living a good and healthy life.

    Once I read a quote of Diogenes which goes like this,

    “When asked how much educated men were superior

    to those uneducated,

    Aristotle answered, As much as the living is to dead”

    As per the above quote Diogenes states the thought

    of Aristotle that an educated person is like dead he is

    not able to think or act in a correct and lucid manner.

    Moreover the educated person‟s behavior is different

    of that of uneducated person.

    individual for the proper survival. I would collect

    donations from those people who want to help poor

    children in getting education. If all the children in

    India will get education then no one can stop India

    from progress. Through this charity I would open a

    school. By this charity we can reduce the poverty in

    India. From this charity the poor children can be

    independent and their life can move in a right track. I

    will try to provide poor children a good education

    with more facilities. It will give a better start in their
