Last spring Rev. Dan Dick and 15 members of Christ Church gathered to look ahead to the future of our church. We discovered, through the course of our discussion that CARE is the number one goal on our hearts. Care for our members: equipping members to care for each other; care for our com-munity: equipping people to serve in caring ways; and cultivating a caring culture towards global and mission needs. Since our discussion last spring, our Administrative Council and other commit-tees have looked at the three-fold vision that was created to see if it is indeed in line with the hearts of Christ Church members. So far, we think that we are right on track. That means that it is time to take action. Now is the time for us to work together to train, to practice, and to enhance our caring ministry’s. We are ready to worship God as we serve our neighbors, with care. Do you have an idea on how we can move forward with this three-fold vision? Do you want to help us narrow or widen our scope? Your input is always welcome! Please share your thoughts with each other and with the members of Administrative Council. We look forward to being disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the World! Christ Church's three-fold vision for caring ministries:

care for existing members, and equipping existing members to care for each other care for community and equipping people for outreach and to serve in caring ways cultivating a caring culture for global and mission outreach

From Christ Church Finance Committee To the people of Christ Church: Recently there have been some questions regarding Apportionments and the budget. To clear some of the questions: the Apportionments (Connectional Giving) are part of our operating budget, not a separate piece of finance. We have not contributed our 100% apportionment for 5 years. In order to get back to 100% giving, the Finance Committee along with the Administrative Council set a goal to meet 70% of our total Apportionment for this year. We are currently behind in that giving. As of August 18, 2014 we are at $4,703.00. We will need a total of $13,340.00 to meet our 70% goal. At the end of last year our total Apportionment giving was $10,730 or 60% of our ex-pected connectional giving. If we were to divide the total apportionment by the 183 members that we have, it would be $105.00 per person. We share this number simply because we have been asked, not because we think of it as each person’s obligation. We don’t look at our whole budget that way so we would not look at one line item, like this one, in that manner either. Recently, we have been asked, “Can you just bill me my portion of the Apportionment?”. Well, no. It is not a bill to you any more than 183rd of the heat or the light bills are and it is not how we as a congregation look at our budget. The other item of great interest that we have worked on recently is our mortgage. In May our mortgage was due for refinancing, as it is with business loans. When we refinanced, our payment decreased by approximately $400 (loan rates are better than before!). The length of the loan has not changed: still 30 years from when we started or 25 years from now. Although our required payment is lower than before, the Finance Committee has committed to sending an additional $200 for the principle. This will help us to pay down the loan in less than 25 years. The purpose of this article is to keep everyone aware of our current financial situation. If you have any questions regarding any of the finances of the church, please feel free to discuss this with any of the Finance Committee members. Rev. Dick Jones will talk about a new, optional model for church administration called "Accountable Leadership" at Mosinee UMC Sunday afternoon, September 14, 2:00-4:00pm. This model replaces the bulk of church committees with a single leadership council, with some members of the council taking specific responsibility for trustees, SPRC, and finance. For more information, contact Pastor Park Hunter at Mosinee (715-551-2041 or [email protected]) or Rev. Dick Jones (920-369-6345 or [email protected]).

A note from Pastor Angie A note from Pastor Angie A note from Pastor Angie A note from Pastor Angie “We are born innocent” words from Adia a song sung by Sarah McLachlan. We celebrated that innocence recently in the baptism of Connor. It was good! Good to see that God’s love is active, full of life, and full of love. It was good! A couple of people have asked me about Connor’s family. Some want to know what church they go to, and others ask about how we are connected to him. Many have just shared the excitement that I have with welcoming more children into the fold of Christian love. One of the discussion topics that took very little time at the introduction meeting that I had with the Staff Parish Relations Committee before I was placed here had to do with Baptism. It was a short discussion because we all agreed! Christ United Methodist Church and Wildwood Chapel are places where everyone can come with to share in the love of Christ. We will be churches that are available for the milestones in the lives of our members, our friends, and our community. Milestones like baptism, weddings, or funerals; in fact, we will be more than avail-able, we will be welcoming. What a great opportunity to open our hearts, minds, and doors in the name of Love! I feel very blessed that my parents choose for me to receive the sacrament of Baptism. I don’t remember it; I don’t even know if I could find a picture from the day, but I do know that it is a fundamental part of my faith story. The promise made in baptism was carried out, to the best of abilities, and I was surrounded by a community of believers. We ask the same questions of support and encouragement from all of you when we baptize here. We ask similar questions when people get married or when we have Confirmation. We ask you, the people who find their faith home here, to be community for the innocent children of God. Thank you for saying yes! Thank you for car-rying out the acts of love and faith; the acts of community and relationship; the commitment of raising up OUR

CHILDREN in God’s everlasting love! THANK YOU!-Pastor Angie

“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, inter-

cessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone” --1

Timothy 2:1

As a community that deeply cares for each other and

desires to pray for one another, we share our praises

and our concerns. The hope is that we will lift our

voice and hearts in prayer to God. When we all pray,

we open up our hearts to God’s work in our lives as a

community. There is comfort gained when our friends

and family are lifting up our prayers. Would you join

us in praying this month for the

concerns of our community?

Please share with us your prayers. You can let Pastor

Angie or Jackie know of additions to this list. Jesus

promises in Matthew 18:20 “For where two or three

are gathered in my name, I am there among them.”

So we are going to start with something a bit more manageable. Disciple Fast-Track is a 24-week study that meets for 75 minutes each week. Pastor Angie will facilitate this study.
