Bertie's was a former chapel built in the 1850s. As a prominent grade 11 listed building in the heart of Elland, we are so proud to open our tearooms in the true tradition and style of the 1840s original tearooms.

Tradition tells us that the seventh Duchess of Bedford started taking tea and sandwiches to bridge the gap

between lunch and dinner. This caught on in aristocratic Edwardian times, and Afternoon Tea eventually meant trips out to the smartest venues with the most elegant silverware and china tea service.
