SAP is a trademark of SAP AG, GermanyGeneral Availability16SAP BPC IntroductionBPC Roadmap until 2011 SAP Business Planning and Consolidation 7.5, version for the Microsoft platform, is an evolutionary release from 5.1, and customers will be able to upgrade with minimal effort: A 5.1 to 7.5 version for the Microsoft platform is similar in effort to applying a Support Package to 5.1. There is full backwards compatibility for all functionality in 5.1.

There is no direct upgrade path from 5.1 to 7.5, version for SAP NetWeaver but migration tools may exist A migration from 5.1 to 7.5 version for SAP NetWeaver is more involved than an upgrade because 7.5 version for SAP NetWeaver is not the successor release to 5.1 and does not contain full backwards compatibility. The migration tools automate a significant portion of the migration, however there are specific components that will require manual rework, and some components that will not migrate at all. It is completely optional to migrate to the version for SAP NetWeaver. Customers who wish to stay on the version for the Microsoft platform may continue to do so, and upgrade to the successor release (7.5 version for the Microsoft platform).Release upgrade or migration SAP guidelines16 2010 Accenture .
