The Cell Theory (1839)1. Every living organism consists of 1 or more cells.
2. The cell is the structural and functional unit of all life.
3. All living cells come from division of other, pre-existing cells. (added in 1855)
4. All cells have the same basic chemical composition.
5. All cells use energy.
6. All cells contain DNA that is copied and passed on to daughter cells.
