Explanation of Capital CreditsTri-County Telephone Associa on, Inc. (TCT) is a non-profi t corpora on. Thus,

all money paid by members for their telecommunica ons services, in excess of opera ng costs and expenses is furnished by the members as capital and should be allocated back to them.

Capital Credits are allocated annually to each member. The amount of Capital Credits each member receives varies with the amount each pays for telephone and other communica on services. The more you paid, the more Capital Credits are refunded to you. You will be sent an alloca on statement each year that lists the balance in your Patronage Capital account and the amount allocated that year. This statement is NOT A BILL. It is a statement of your equity in the Coopera ve.

Capital Credits cannot be paid all at once because they are retained as capital to operate the business of the coopera ve. If TCTA could not get its opera ng capital from member payments, it would have to borrow the money, which could cause an increase in rates. Thus, Capital Credits are used over a period of me for such things as plant improvements and construc on. They are paid back to the members upon approval of the Board of Directors, (767-6845) depending on the fi nancial condi on of the coopera ve.

Checks are made out to the person or business whose name the membership is in at the me the credits are allocated, regardless of who paid the bill.

If you move from our service area, the capital credits in your account will remain in your name and will con nue to be paid back un l the account is cleared. Capital Credits checks will be mailed to the last known address. Please keep us informed of your current address, so you can con nue receiving your checks in the years to come.

If a Capital Credits check has been mailed to the last known address of the member, and delivery cannot be made, or checks are not deposited, the Capital Credits will be determined to be unclaimed. As stated in the TCT bylaws; a er three (3) years any unclaimed Capital Credits are turned over to the TCT scholarship fund.

In case of separa on or divorce, checks are payable to the person whose name is on the membership. The person remaining in the residence where service is provided should contact TCT to change the membership name and number. Un l the membership is changed, the Capital Credits will con nue to accrue and paid out

In the case of death of the holder of an individual account, all Capital Credits can be paid to the estate. In case of the death of one of the holders of a jointly-held account, all Capital Credits are payable through date of death to the surviving member of a joint membership. All Capital Credits accrued a er the date of death will belong to the member who retains the telephone service.

The event will begin with the survivors’ meal and con nue with the opening ceremonies, Survivor Lap, introduc on of teams, ligh ng of the luminaria, and reading of names. The event pays tribute to those lost to cancer, honors those s ll fi gh ng, and celebrates with cancer survivors the many strides and advancements in the area of cancer research. Money raised is used by the American Cancer Society for research, educa on, advocacy, (349-2081) and cancer pa ent services.
