Here is the first issue of the Downeasters Soundings Weekly Email. Please consider this a work in progress as we work on format and available information. For now I want to try an email body only version. That way there is nothing to download and it can be viewed in your email program! Please forward any suggestions or concerns to me at [email protected] . You can also send any information for inclusion in future Soundings Weekly Emails, deadline will be Thursday afternoon, as I plan to compile and send them out on Thursday evening. That way if your email address is at work, you can receive it before the weekend. I do realize that many of you are receiving duplicate emails, bear with me as I work to identify the Soundings email addresses that are part of the [email protected] member email addresses. ANNOUNCEMENT

For

Downeaster Chorus Members

On Monday evening, January 3, 2011, the Music Leadership

Team voted to use our International Contest musical package - Alexander’s Ragtime Band and Who’ll Take My Place - for the upcoming Granite and Pine Division Contest in Lincoln, Rhode Island in March. Factors considered in this decision included, but were not necessarily limited to: a. The goal of the Division Contest is to qualify for District Contest. b. To date there have been very few members who have auditioned for the new contest songs. c. This year, there is a shorter than usual amount of time to prepare for the Division Contest. d. New members will have the opportunity to audition for the Division Contest songs. e. This will allow more time to rehearse the new contest songs for the Fall, 2011 District Contest. If the chorus approves the Music Leadership Team proposal for how we carry out our weekly chapter meetings, this decision will allow us to learn new music in a timely manner.
