Dear Parents, Alumni, and Friends of Our Lady of

Mercy:

The many successes of the 2015-2016 school year

is a testimony to our excellent faculty & staff and

our supportive parents who inspire students to

take advantage of the variety of opportunities that

Mercy offers. Our senior class once again broke a

school record by obtaining over $12,000,000 in

scholarship awards. Thanks to our fundraising

efforts and conscientious budget choices, we were

able to purchase a 48-passenger bus while

continuing to make campus improvements such as

new sidewalks, bleacher repairs and upgrades to

our A/C system and the Bobcat kitchen.

We are also grateful to the Friars of St. Philip Benizi

who served as our chaplains, spiritual directors and

friends this school year. We have been blessed by

your presence in our community.

Thank you for your continued generosity and

dedication to Mercy. It is a privilege to serve as

your principal.

God bless,

Brian Newhall, principal

3 ANNUAL REPORT 2015-2016

The digital textbooks initiative was in full swing this year with almost 90% of our

classes using on-line textbooks.

The Franciscan Friars from St. Philip Benizi served as our chaplains. We were so

pleased to have the friars as part of our community.

We received a $5,000 grant from The Catholic Foundation of North Georgia to help

with our technology infrastructure.

We once again had a record number of college scholarships. Our 83 graduating

seniors garnered 415 college acceptances and $12,247,778 in college scholarships, not

including the HOPE scholarship.

Our boys and girls basketball program had record years with both teams being the

Region runner-up and advancing to the state tournament.

Homecoming Week consisted of various competitions and the seniors won the first

ever Spirit Cup.

Every student in the junior class participated in a speech competition and the top

students competed in the finals in front of the entire school community.
