Setup:

Create the following databases SQL Server

DB Name Size File Properties

Domain 5 MG unrestricted file growth and automaticallygrow file by 10%

RDBU 40 MG unrestricted file growth and automaticallygrow file by 10%

PC_TRAINING 60 MG unrestricted file growth and automaticallygrow file by 10%

Development 50 MG unrestricted file growth and automaticallygrow file by 10%

Create the following Users and assign properties as follows:

Step 1: Install PowerCenter Services and Create a Domain

1. Double-click install.exe to begin the installation.

The PowerCenter Installation program Main window appears.

2. Click Server to install PowerCenter Services.

3. At the Welcome Screen, click Next in the installation program.

4. Click Browse to search for the license key file.

Navigate to it and select Open.

5. Click Next in the installation program.

6. The Installation Prerequisites window opens.

Click Next in the installation program.

7. The Installation Set window opens. Select Custom.

8. To install only PowerCenter Services, verify only PowerCenter Services ischecked.

9. The Installation Directory window opens. Choose the installation directoryusing Browse or accept the default.


10. The Pre-Installation Summary window opens.

Confirm that the information is correct, and click Install.The Installation program analyzes the system and then starts copyingPowerCenter files to the hard drive. This may take a few moments.

The Create or Join a Domain window opens.

11. Choose Create New Domain, and click Next.

13. Click Test Connection to verify the Installation program can connect to theSQL Server database you specified.

14. Click Next. You should see a popup message that says the test connectionpassed. If you do not, correct the values in the Configure Domain Databasewindow.

15. In the Configure Domain window, enter the following parameters:

Create Repository Service Unchecked we will create arepository later

16. Click Next.The Installation program creates the domain configuration in the database youspecified. This may take a few moments. The Configure Informatica Serviceswindow appears. In this window, you can choose whether the Windows servicecalled Informatica Services 8.1.1 uses the local system account to start, or aspecific Windows account you specify here. For this class, you will specify to usethe local system account in the next step.

17. In the Configure Informatica Services window, clear the Install InformaticaServices with a different user account check box.

18. Click Next.

The Installation Summary window opens.

The Installation program creates the Windows service for the Service Managerand finishes installing the rest of PowerCenter Services.

19. Confirm that you see Installation Status: SUCCESS and click Done.

Step 2: Install the PowerCenter Client

1. Go back to the Installation program Main window that should still be open onyour machine.

2. Click Client to install the PowerCenter Client.

3. Click Next at the Welcome window.

4. On the Installation Set window, choose Custom and click Next.

5. In the PowerCenter Client Components window, clear the Metadata ManagerClient and click Next.

6. Accept the default installation directory and click Next.

7. In the Pre-Installation Summary window, click Install.

The Installation Summary window opens. The Installation program copies filesand installs the PowerCenter Client. This may take a few moments.

8. Confirm that you see Installation Status: SUCCESS and click Next.

9. In the Installation Complete window, do not launch any PowerCenterapplication. Click Done.

10. Go back to the Installation program Main window and click Exit.
