WELCOME TO HOLY CROSS RYDE

Holy Cross College Ryde has provided a high-quality Catholic education for young men of faith since 1891. The College achieves strong learning growth in NAPLAN and the Higher School Certificate by focusing on the individual learning needs of each student.

Students are supported by dedicated teachers with a wealth of experience in boy’s education and a focus on continual improvement. A selective academic stream also allows gifted students to be immersed in a culture of success.

The College has expansive grounds, significant heritage buildings and modern state-of-the-art learning and technology facilities. Its academic program caters to the needs of all learners, having produced HSC all-rounders, leaders in business, medicine, public service, education, professional sport and the arts.

Founded upon the Charism of the Patrician Brothers, the College is an inclusive community that seeks at all times to build a culture of hospitality and welcome with high standards of personal behavior and responsibility. It’s extensive and award winning co-curricular program offers opportunities to participate in band programs, debating and public speaking, outdoor education, academic enrichment, and the arts. The College has an enviable reputation for sporting success built upon self-discipline and a commitment to excellence. Holy Cross College is the only Catholic Systemic School to have a school based Australian Army Cadet unit.

We assist students to become independent, confident, and resilient learners through a range of exciting opportunities that bring together the strength of tradition with an understanding of future demands. Pastoral care is provided for all students with teachers, specialist staff, counsellors and our Chaplain working together to help and support each boy build esteem and deal with challenges.

CURRICULAR

Our curricular program and our commitment to Pastoral care ensures every student is supported and valued as an individual. Holy Cross College offers a comprehensive and well-rounded education and supports students to make the most of their individual potential.

We have a well-resourced and highly successful STEM program as well as a diversity of Vocational Training Courses that are HSC accredited. In addition the College offers a wide range of traditional and elective subjects, offering every student a pathway to tertiary study, post-school training and work.

Our excellent resources include world - class facilities and information and communication technologies. These resources and the ongoing professional learning of our teaching staff, mean that our students receive a quality secondary education.

CO-CURRICULAR

Our co-curricular program offers a wide range of opportunities for every student to succeed; from individual and team sport to outdoor education, performance and creativity. Holy Cross College expands the horizons of every student, complementing their academic education and ensuring that our students are active and engaged in and outside of the classroom. The College is a founding member of the Metropolitan Catholic Colleges Sports Association and is affiliated with New South Wales Combined Catholic Colleges and a number of other peak sporting bodies. Our house and elective sport programs also promote collaboration, respect for others and humility both in victory and defeat. Most importantly, sport is understood as a means of promoting personal growth and responsibility. Holy Cross students actively engage with Catholic Schools Performing Arts Sydney, participate in Australian university enrichment programs in science and technology, are award winning musicians and artists, and are leaders in social justice and service to the community.

CADET PROGRAM

Holy Cross College is proud to be a member school of the Australian Army Cadets (ACC); a program that is at the heart of the College’s tradition as far back as 1909. Our College is the only systemic Catholic School to offer a school-based Cadet Unit in New South Wales.

Taking part in this program, provides opportunities for our students to develop self-confidence, resilience, leadership skills, self-reliance, teamwork, respect and discipline while at the same time challenging them in ways that other extra curricula opportunities seldom provide.

The Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme runs concurrently with the College Cadet program and will also remain open to non-cadet students.
