Le mot ANALEKTA signifie en grec : « recueil d’œuvres de choix ». Depuis sa création en 1988, tous les artistes, ainsi que Mario Labbé, son fondateur et président, ont contribué à représenter dignement l’étymologie de son nom.

En visionnaire, Mario Labbé les fait découvrir aux Canadiens et devait être le premier à amener des Russes aux États-Unis dans un cadre autre que politique. Ils interprètent ici deux de leurs plus grands succès.

The Red Army Chorus was founded in 1928, to support the morale of the troops and exalt the revolutionary ideal. They were to become a milestone in 20th-century musical history. A true visionary, Mario Labbé was the first to present the chorus to Canadians and to bring them on tour to the United States. The Chorus made history as the first Russians to set foot on American soil for a non-political occasion. They here perform two of their most popular numbers.

Violoniste virtuose parmi les plus en vue au Canada, Angèle Dubeau mène depuis main-tenant 30 ans une carrière exceptionnelle qui l’a menée sur les grandes scènes du monde. Elle fonde en 1997 La Pietà, un ensemble à cordes féminin à géométrie variable composé de huit à douze des meilleures musiciennes au Canada.

Comme soliste, Mme Dubeau interprète ici deux œuvres. La première est le Caprice no 9 de Locatelli, extrait de son disque Solo, salué en ces termes élogieux par BBC Magazine : « … riche et vibrant, interprété avec passion… » Son interprétation du Concerto de Sibelius, œuvre phare du répertoire violonistique concertant,

avait été qualifiée de l’une des plus belles par la critique internationale.

Chambriste convaincue, elle a également signé un enregistrement mémorable des Sonates de Schubert avec Anton Kuerti, comparé à l’en-registrement mythique de Pinchas Zukerman et Daniel Barenboim. « Angèle Dubeau bou-leverse dans la plus grande simplicité; elle se contente de chanter, et tout Schubert est là », mentionnait Le Monde de la Musique. Le duo a d’ailleurs repris l’œuvre lors du concert souli-gnant les 30 ans de carrière d’Angèle Dubeau. La violoniste propose aussi ici quelques extraits d’opéras mozartiens, enregistrés avec le regret-té Alain Marion.

Avec La Pietà, elle interprète la Rhapsodie roumaine no 1 d’Enescu ainsi que Princess Mononoke de Joe Hisaishi, un extrait d’Un conte de fées, « le plus beau disque de leur carrière » selon Christophe Huss du Devoir.

One of Canada’s most prominent artists, vir-tuoso violinist Angèle Dubeau has for the past 30 years led an exceptional career that has seen her perform on the world’s most presti-gious stages.

In 1997, she created La Pietà, a string ensem-ble of variable dimensions, bringing together eight to twelve of the finest women musicians in Canada.

As a soloist, Ms. Dubeau performs two works. The first, Locatelli’s Caprice No. 9, is an excerpt from her Solo album, which has been hailed by BBC Magazine as “… rich and vibrant, and performed with a passion…” Her Sibelius Con-certo, a masterwork of the violin concerto rep-ertoire, has been saluted as one of the most beautiful versions by international critics.

A dedicated chamber musician, she also re-corded a memorable version of Schubert’s Sonatas with Anton Kuerti, which has been compared to the legendary version by Pinchas Zukerman and Daniel Barenboim. “The analytic probity of these readings… never impedes the song-like flow of material that Schubert valued so highly,” stated The Globe and Mail. Both musicians performed the work on stage at the

concert celebrating her 30 years of career. Ms. Dubeau has also included a few Mozart arias, recorded with the late Alain Marion.

With La Pietà, she performs Enescu’s Romanian Rhapsody No. 1 as well as Joe Hisaishi’s Princess Mononoke, from their A Fairy Tale release. The Los Angeles Times wrote : “… Dubeau is an exciting, dynamic fiddler… The performances were consistently robust and in-quiring, taking nothing for granted… Dubeau’s well-drilled band played with agility, power, a nicely weighted sound and a fierce joy in the doing…”

Anton Kuerti a fait des tournées dans plus de 31 pays, incluant le Japon, la Russie et la plu-part des pays européens. Il a aussi joué avec les principaux chefs et orchestres nord-américains. Kuerti est aujourd’hui un des artistes qui a le plus enregistré : il a mis sur disque l’intégrale des concertos et des sonates de Beethoven, des sonates de Schubert, des concertos de Brahms et les œuvres de plusieurs autres com-positeurs. Son intégrale des Sonates de Beetho-ven demeure une référence essentielle, même si elle a été enregistrée il y a plus de 30 ans.

Depuis les années 1950, Bernard Lagacé est l’un des artisans les plus actifs du mouvement de renaissance de l’orgue en Amérique. En 1989, il fut récipiendaire du Prix Calixa-Lavallée de la Société Saint-Jean-Baptiste de Montréal qui voulait ainsi reconnaître non seulement « le génie musical de Bernard Lagacé, mais aussi la sensibilité, l’intériorité et l’éloquence de l’artiste… » Reconnu pour ses interpréta-tions des œuvres de Johann Sebastian Bach, son intégrale des œuvres pour clavier demeure une somme colossale.

« Chaque nouveau volet de cette intégrale s’inscrit comme une magnifique pierre à un édifice que Lagacé construit avec art. On as

Il s’est illustré dans les plus grands centres culturels d’Europe, d’Amérique du Nord et de l’Extrême-Orient. Il fut honoré par la critique, on le compara aux Ashkenazy, Horowitz, et Rudolph Serkin.

Le contralto Marie-Nicole Lemieux a commen-cé sa carrière de façon fulgurante. En 2000, à l’âge de 24 ans, elle remporte à Bruxelles le Prix de la Reine Fabiola (1er Prix) ainsi que le Prix Spécial du Lied au Concours Musical Inter-national Reine Élisabeth de Belgique. Ce prix prestigieux lui a permis de se faire connaître du milieu international, lui donnant l’occasion de se produire tant en récital qu’en concert avec de grands orchestres et d’être invitée par les festivals et les maisons d’opéra les plus pres-tigieuses.

La presse internationale est una-nime à reconnaître la qualité et l’importance du travail d’interprète et de musicologue de Geneviève Soly.

Tafelmusik, orchestre canadien sur instru-ments d’époque, a été fondé en 1979. Depuis l’arrivée de sa directrice musicale et premier violon Jeanne Lamon en 1981, Tafelmusik s’est acquis une notoriété internationale pour ses concerts et ses enregistrements. Tafelmu-sik a fait paraître quelque 70 CD et s’est mérité de nombreuses récompenses internationales pour ses enregistrements, dont neuf prix Juno. Ils interprètent ici l’effervescente « Arrivée de la reine de Saba », extraite de l’oratorio Solomon de Handel et la Symphonie « Pastorale » de Beethoven, enregistrement qui leur a valu en 2006 un Prix Juno.

Tafelmusik, Canada’s orchestra on period instruments, was founded in 1979. Since the arrival of its Music Director and concertmas-ter Jeanne Lamon in 1981, Tafelmusik has achieved international recognition for its con-certs and recordings. Tafelmusik has released over 70 CDs and has been awarded numerous international recording prizes, including nine Junos.

“Tafelmusik under Bruno Weil bring characteristic touch to this recording [of Beethoven symphonies]. The strings are sparse and largely straighttoned, revealing surprising hues of colour in the wind parts. After years of big romantic orchestral performances this sound is wonderfully new, especially in the second and third movements of the sixth symphony. The fourth movement “storm” is delightfully bad weather, reminiscent of The Four Seasons and the finale offers a slightly slower tempo than usually heard but works well nevertheless.” (Whole Note)

They here perform “The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba” from Handel’s oratorio Solomon as well as Beethoven’s “Pastoral” Symphony, a recording rewarded by a Juno that received rave reviews.

Depuis sa fondation, l’OSQ est associé aux activités importantes de la Ville de Québec telles que l’inauguration du Théâtre Capitole en 1903, du Palais Montcalm en 1932 et du Grand Théâtre de Québec en 1971. Symbole culturel par excellence, l’OSQ est l’un des principaux moteurs de l’activité musicale dans la région de Québec. L’OSQ possède une discographie comprenant plu-sieurs enregistrements depuis 1977, dont cer-tains parus chez Analekta.

On October 3, 2002, the Orchestre sympho-nique de Québec celebrated its 100th anniver-sary. Since its foundation, the OSQ has been associated with countless Quebec City events—events of great significance such as the inaugu-ration of the Théâtre Capitole in 1903, of the Palais Montcalm in 1932, and of the Grand Théâtre de Québec in 1971. A cultural sym-bol par excellence, the OSQ performs a wide symphonic repertoire and is one of the select few to lead and inspire the musical industry in the Quebec City region. The OSQ also has an impressive set of recordings since 1977, includ-ing on the Analekta record label.

Depuis sa fondation en 1981 par des mu-siciens diplômés des conservatoires et des facultés de musique du Québec, l’Orchestre Métropolitain a répondu avec enthousiasme à l’objectif qu’il s’était fixé, soit de promouvoir le talent des musiciens, compositeurs et interprè-tes québécois et de former un nouveau public à la musique. Initiateur, l’Orchestre a développé ces dix dernières années une Tournée dans l’Île qui permet aux résidents de cinq municipalités et un quartier de participer chez eux à la vie culturelle du Grand Montréal.

The Orchestre Métropolitain du Grand Mon-tréal was founded in 1981 by a group of musi-cians, graduates of Quebec’s most respected institutions. Since then, the orchestra has an-swered with much enthusiasm to the mandate it had first set for itself, which is promoting the talent of Quebec musicians and composers and developing a new public for music. With this in mind, the orchestra has developed a touring series called “Tournée dans l’Île,” see-ing it perform in the greater Montreal area, allowing residents to participate in Montreal’s cultural life.
