These re- ports provide a snapshot of your child’s progress between the June and December reports. For students in grade prep, this will be their first mid-semester report, as they do not receive one in April when other students do, as it is their first year of school. If parents have any queries or con- cerns regarding these reports, please make a suitable me to meet with your child’s classroom teacher to discuss them. Congratulaons to the 10 students who won a movie voucher in our raffle today at assembly. To be included in the raffle, students needed to have been here every day this term, and there were roughly 50 students in the raffle. Student aendance is always a very important issue and one that if successful can pay dividends for a lifeme. The opposite can also be true. Connual ab- sence or lateness can affect student learning outcomes for a very long me. Raffles and movie ckets aside, being here daily and on me is one very easy way to make sure your child has the best opportunity to achieve, now and for the rest of their lives. Your support is appreciated. From day one next term broad brimmed hats with the school logo are compulsory. Please take me over the holidays to make sure you have a hat for your child ready for the start of term, and please make sure you have very clearly marked your child’s name on it. As per our school rule, no hat equals no play. We would much rather all students have the opportunity to play at each break, so your cooperaon with this, and to ensure we protect your child’s skin, is appreciated. Being the last week of term does not mean we slow down in any way. Today is our sausage sizzle fundraiser for our two students in the Victorian School State Soſtball Team which we thank the Parents’ Club for organising. Tomorrow our grade 6 students open their ‘Kidpreneur’ stall at the Altona Beach Market which they have been working very hard on for several weeks, and which we encourage all parents to go along and support. On Thursday several of our students will be parcipang in the Division Athlecs Finals in Werribee and we wish them well for that knowing they will try their hardest and do our school proud. Friday of course is the last day of term and is also our Footy Colours day. Students on this day are able to wear colours of a team they support for a gold coin donaon. If parents have or- dered lunch for their children, they will also receive a hot lunch from Routley’s. All money raised will go to support our Kiva account and for the Fight Cancer Foundaon. Please note that there will not be any other lunch-orders available on this day. As Friday is the last day of term, school will finish at 2pm. Students will be dismissed from their classrooms on this day and OSHClub will commence from 2pm for those students en- rolled. We wish everybody a very relaxing and enjoyable holiday period, and we look forward to seeing you all next term refreshed and ready for a very excing and busy term 4. A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents, This morning, the mid-semester reports became available on Compass for all parents. These re-ports provide a snapshot of your child’s progress between the June and December reports. For students in grade prep, this will be their first mid-semester report, as they do not receive one in April when other students do, as it is their first year of school. TERM 3 ACTIVITIES - We are nearly at the end!

SECRET LIFE OF PETS What a great fun movie! The kids all seemed to love it as did the parents. Thanks so much to Linda and Dal Finke for organising this event.

SOFTBALL STATE TEAM SAUSAGE SIZZLE FUNDRAISER As many of you are aware we have two members of our school community who have made the Primary Schools Victorian Softball teams. Congratulations to Jack and Troy! The Sausage sizzle is on Monday 12th October. $2 per sausage, with all funds going towards these boys.

TERM 4 FUNDRAISING EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES - Lots to look forward too!

MAMMA KNOWS WEST KIDS MARKET Parents club have been given the opportunity to hold yet another sausage sizzle, this time at the Mamma Knows West Kids market Sunday 9th October 9.00am –1pm. This is a great opportunity to hopefully raise $800-$1000 from the broader community. I already have some lovely volunteers for this but if you could spare some time on that Sunday morning please email [email protected]. The Market is held at Seaview Williamstown Events Centre which is part of Williamstown football ground.

LIVING FUNDRAISER In week 1-2 of 4th term a letter will go out explaining this fantastic ecofriendly fundraising event which basically involves each family selling tins of herbs to grow. This is a really exciting fundraiser and gives the school an opportunity to make significant profit. More will be explained in the letter so keep an eye out!

WORLD TEACHERS DAY This is celebrated on the 5th of October and Sarah McNair had kindly offered on behalf of parents club and the school community to organise morning tea for all the staff at Newport Gardens as a BIG thank you for all the great work they do in educating our young people.

CHILDRENS WEEK Is the 22nd – 30th October 2016 and Parent’s club will again be providing a special morning tea on Monday 24th October to all the kids in the school. More details next term.

CHRISTMAS RAFFLE The raffle will be drawn at the last assembly of the year. Donations will be requested during the last 2-3 weeks of terms. More details closer to December.

FOOTY COLOURS and PIE LUNCH DAY!

Friday 16th September

To celebrate our last day of term, and to raise important funds, students have the opportunity to par-

ticipate in Footy Colours Day!

Students are invited to come to school dressed in their favourite teams colour and to bring along a

gold coin to donate. Students can wear the colours of their favourite AFL, Soccer, NRL or Rugby Union

team. All the gold coins collected on the day will raise much needed funds for the Fight Cancer Foun-

dation and our Junior School Council’s KIVA project.

We are also having a special ‘pie’ lunch where students can order a pie, vegetarian pastie or sausage

roll for lunch, supplied by Routleys. Order forms were sent home last week.

A special thank you to Routleys, for their support of this cause, with 80 cents from each pie sale going

directly to the Fight Cancer Foundation.

Your participation and donations will be greatly appreciated.

ART UPDATE

For the love of art exhibition

Update

We are hoping to run a raffle at the art show so we are in need of some donations. If you can contribute, that would be wonderful! Ideal items could be: art materials and tools such as pencils and paint, beauty products, service vouchers, books, chocolates. We will package them up and raffle them off as bundles. If you would like to donate, please take your item to the front office. Thank you in advance :) Have you purchased your art show ticket yet? If not, please do to help us get a clear indication of how many people are attending for catering purposes. Forms are attached to this newsletter. We will need many helpers to assist with installing the artworks on the day. If you are keen to help please leave your name on the notice board near the front office. This event relies on the support of our generous community so please get behind The Arts program by lending a hand to set up what will be an amazing exhibition. Have a great break! Marielle
