Dear Cornerstone family, February is called the “Love Month”. Valentine’s Day is a time when people express their love and affection for others by sending cards, flowers, or candy, and often by having special time together.
For Cornerstone's Love month, I want to focus on two events taking place within our fellowship. First, our PRAYER emphasis for the month is WORSHIP. We define “worship” as “the act of showing respect and love for God.” Worship may include singing, but it is so much more and it can take place anywhere and at anytime.
In your Life Group and in the foyer, you will be able to pick up a prayer guide to assist you in praying for Worship at Cornerstone during the month of February. Attend and participate in Worship as we express our love for THE TRUE CORNERSTONE.
We are having a Winter Revival, “Illumin8” on February 16-19. This is a Church-wide Revival, (for eve-ryone, all ages) led by our youth. They will have activities that will include other youth groups in our area. Other participating Churches already have their “prayer lanterns” that they light and spend time in prayer for the Revival each week. I ask that you join our youth in praying for revival and renewal. Pray for John David Mangrum, our for-mer youth minister, who is presently pastor of Christ Church Charlestown in Boston, Massachusetts. John David will bring God’s message for us on Sunday morning and each night of Revival. Pray for your Youth as they lead in our services and pray for souls to be saved.
February is going to be an exciting, awesome month, as we mature in our WORSHIP experience with our LORD JESUS CHRIST.
I will see you Sunday because I love being — Your Pastor,

A Modern Day Fisherman or A Modern Day Fisher of Men?
Captain Rick made a medical decision to change his
appearance, improve his health, and fortify family
relationships. His decision led to more than his share of
problems. With time, prayer, patience, persistence and people,
Rick and God worked everything out. Come and listen to
“how”; and learn why you should never give in and give up.
Visit with us to learn from Rick why you should lean on God,
not depend on good luck.
So I am going to take a risk on this love month article. But isn't that what love does a lot when it comes to relationships and communication? We risk loving with no return. I wondered if Jesus ever felt that way? Yes, we have all been burned and are ready to give up on those who have befriended us, but hate is surely not the answer. "He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness until now.” 1 John 2:9
“But he who hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.” 1 John 2:11"If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?" 1 John 4:20 "You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you.” Matthew 5:43-44 When you can’t handle the hate, practice compassion! We cannot escape love; there I said it. We who are in Christ are a new creature, old things have passed away, behold all things have become new. Let's not wait till spring to see the new life in us. Warm your hearts this winter with compassion.
