Tensioners are classified into two basic types –conventional and pusher. The conventional typehas a base which rests on the surface to bestrapped. A part of it is always positionedbetween the strap and the surface. Pusher typetools tension by pushing against the seal (pusherseals only), without the strap passing over thetool base. No tension is lost when the tool isremoved, which is ideal for small irregular shapepackages. Pusher tools also incorporate abreaker nose to cut the strap at the seal.

Depending on your package shape (flat surface –conventional vs. small and irregular – pusher),choose a tensioner from feedwheel, windlass, or pusher.

MODEL STSPP-2The STSPP-2 sealer is specifically designed for use with polypropylene strapping in palletizingand general packaging applications with the STTPW-2 tensioner. The triple friction grip formsexceptionally efficient joints.

This manually operated tensioner has a windlass drum for positive high tension take-up.Pushing the tension handle forward cuts the loose end of the strap after the seal has beensealed. See the chart below for seal and sealer usage with polypropylene, polyester and nylonstrapping. The STTPW-2 also works well with wire buckles. Shipping weight: 3.5 pounds.

1) To eliminate waste,pull band fromcarton as needed.With ears of buckleaway fromoperator, slide thebuckle on thebanding. Lacebanding aroundthe object beingclamped and againthru buckle.

2) Follow same stepsto double wrap foradded radialcompression. Bendend of band underbuckle.

3) Slide band in toolnose slot. Pressdown on gripperwith thumb andtension clamp byturning the handle.Maximum tensionhas been reachedwhen the bandstops movingthrough the buckle.

4) When maximumtension has beenreached, roll toolover buckle. Atsame timereversing handlecarefully approx.3/4 turn to avoidbreakage. Theband that isreleased will beused in the bendand therefore thereis no loss of tension.

5) Lift cutter lever andband will be cut tocorrect length. Onsmaller size 1/4"and 3/8" buckle, astub remains afterband is cut.

6) While holding thestub of the bandwith your thumb,hammer flat overbridge of buckle.Completeapplication byhammering thebuckle ears overthe stub.

HBC-300 Center Punch Tools

1) Push ball handle forward. This will open thefront slot. Insert clamp tail and tension bylifting and lowering tension handle.

2) When sufficient tension has been reached,secure the clamp by lowering the punchhead onto the lock and strike a minimum of 2 times with a 2 lb. mallet.

3) Apply forward and backward movements ofthe tool to break off the clamp tail.

4) Remove the tail by ratcheting the ball handle. Raise handle and pull tail free.


HBC-032 3/8" adapter can be purchased separately and inserted into front of tool foruse with 3/8" wide clamps.

HBJ001 Adapter Insruction for use with Smooth ID J

Series Clamps

Slide HBJ001 Adapter on to ST001 Spin-Tite tool.Put tool in a viseSlide the clamp into the tool until the clamp tailengages the gripper of the tool.

Insert hose assembly into the clamp and applytension by turning the handle of the tool.When the band no longer moves through the lock,maximum tension has been applied.

Roll the hose assembly over until the hook of theHBJ001 adapter rests behind the edge of the lock.You must reverse the tension of the tool by 1/2-3/4of a turn during the roll over process.

Cut the band with the shear lever.

The cut off end of the clamp will be flush with the lock.
