BREWER’S CORNER Miscellaneous Beery Stuff
First a Black is Beautiful update! Momentum continues to build behind
this excellent initiative.
Although the https://blackisbeautiful.beer/ site tends to be a little slow
to be updated, as of Sunday morning, they are currently listing 824
Breweries from 13 Countries committed to participate, including
Cloudwater, Brewdog, Unity, Forest Road and Crafty Devil from the UK, and Ballykilcavan from Ireland.
(There may be other UK Breweries signed up, but not yet listed on the website).
TWICB would like to strenuously encourage other UK Breweries to sign-up! It seems to us like a great
opportunity to do something for this worthy cause, and at the same time, raise your profile as a Brewery,
particularly in the USA.
The UK's appetite for Imperial Stouts, added to the groundswell of support for Black Lives Matter, seems to
suggest that these beers are going to be hot-property when they hit the market in the next month or two.
Meanwhile, Fresh Fest, the USA Craft Beer Festival dedicated to
black-owned breweries has been moved online this year on August 8th.
We imagine that the special beer releases for this festival might be hard to source in the UK, but we should be able to access the
digital festival, which sounds good value...
Tickets for the digital festival will go on sale on July 1 and cost
$10. Fresh Fest attendees will receive access to six channels of live entertainment on August 8. These will include a forum
channel with speakers and panel discussions, a kitchen channel
with a cooking class segment, a brewing channel, a podcast channel, a music channel with band performances, and a channel
with DJ sets and live art.
