1Forestview Falcon Review June Edition 2012 Dear Parents/Guardians, We are so proud of the many successes our students have achieved this year! In academics, character development, the arts, athletics, environmental and community service initiatives, our staff and students have shown what it means to be a Forestview Falcon. We are all Learning And Growing Together! These many accomplishments remind us that success is a team effort and we have our entire Forestview community to thank and acknowledge: students, parents, custodial staff, education assistants, teaching staff, secretarial staff, bus drivers, and community volunteers. Each of us has a role to play in creating a positive and productive school culture. A special thank you also goes out to Lisa Maves, our School Council Chair who worked tirelessly alongside our Council volunteers for the benefit of Forestview students. As this year draws to a close, we would like to congratulate our grade 8 students on their upcoming graduation and wish them the best of luck as they enter into the secondary school system. We also take this time to say good bye to families that are leaving our community; thank you for all of your contributions to Forestview. It has been a pleasure to serve you and your children. We look forward to seeing all of our students when school resumes on Tuesday, September 4 th at 9:00am. All students in grades 1 to 8 will be escorted into the gymnasium for a welcome back message and class lists will be announced at that time. Senior Kindergarten students will be advised of their placement in a.m. or p.m. classes with their June report card. Junior Kindergarten students and new to Forestview Senior Kindergarten students will be notified of their placement in a.m. or p.m. classes by hand delivered letter in July. What a remarkable year! We have enjoyed working with your children and getting to know so many of you. Your continued commitment and active involvement in your children’s education is so greatly appreciated. 1Forestview Falcon Review June Edition 2012

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are so proud of the many successes our students have achieved this year! In

academics, character development, the arts, athletics, environmental and community

service initiatives, our staff and students have shown what it means to be a Forestview

Falcon. We are all Learning And Growing Together!

These many accomplishments remind us that success is a team effort and we have our

entire Forestview community to thank and acknowledge: students, parents, custodial

staff, education assistants, teaching staff, secretarial staff, bus drivers, and community

volunteers. Each of us has a role to play in creating a positive and productive school

culture. A special thank you also goes out to Lisa Maves, our School Council Chair who

worked tirelessly alongside our Council volunteers for the benefit of Forestview students.

As this year draws to a close, we would like to congratulate our grade 8 students on

their upcoming graduation and wish them the best of luck as they enter into the

secondary school system. We also take this time to say good bye to families that are

leaving our community; thank you for all of your contributions to Forestview. It has been

a pleasure to serve you and your children.

We look forward to seeing all of our students when school resumes on Tuesday,

September 4th at 9:00am. All students in grades 1 to 8 will be escorted into the

gymnasium for a welcome back message and class lists will be announced at that time.

Senior Kindergarten students will be advised of their placement in a.m. or p.m. classes

with their June report card. Junior Kindergarten students and new to Forestview Senior

Kindergarten students will be notified of their placement in a.m. or p.m. classes by hand

delivered letter in July.

What a remarkable year! We have enjoyed working with your children and getting to

know so many of you. Your continued commitment and active involvement in your

children’s education is so greatly appreciated. Thank you for a superb year of growth

and learning.

Sincerely,

Mr. R.T. Bright, Principal

ME to WE

Thanks go out to all the members of the Me to We club and the whole

Forestview community for a great year of helping others! We are so proud

to say that we were able to send $3049.48 to Free the Children to be used to help

children who are struggling with issues such as poverty and child labour. Not only did

we help financially, many students learned how fortunate they are to live in Canada

and have things like clean water, food, and the chance to go to school. We look

forward to another great year of Me to We at Forestview. Keep being the change over

the summer and we will see you back in September! Thanks again Forestview!

BADMINTON

The intermediate Badminton team had a successful Brock tournament a few

weeks ago. All of the students stepped up their individual game and defeated

many of their opponents. Honourable mention goes to Teodor, Petar & Srdjan.

TRACK AND FIELD

This year the Forestview Falcons earned many accomplishments through Track and

Field. Students in grades 4 through 8 had the opportunity to compete in a total of three

meets. Many students enjoyed the excitement of our own school meet at Oakes Park. Over 65 of those Junior-Intermediate students then qualified for the city meet a week

later. With the spirit of determination, we returned from that second meet earning a

record 80 ribbons! The next level of competition is the District Meet. It is being held at

Westpark in St.Catharines on Monday, June 11th. The following students will have the opportunity to compete at the DSBN. Go Falcons!

We have GREAT kids at Forestview! During this past year,

Forestview School Council has met monthly to help serve the

needs of our school and community. It has been another busy

year starting with an awesome family Fall Fair in September and ending the year with a fun and successful raffle and Pop Culture Trivia Night (couldn’t

have done it without Mr. Pio, Mrs. Flower and Mrs. Noble!!). Congratulations to Erica

Bagnulo, winner of the 24” Mongoose mountain bike, Iona Chiu, winner of the 2 Niagara

to your support, our raffle sold out in 4 days!

If meeting parents, staying connected and supporting our students are things you’d like

to do, I encourage you to attend September’s Council meeting. On behalf of School

Council, thank you to everyone for supporting Forestview!
