Earth work in rough excavation [by manual means], banking excavated earth in layers not exceeding 20 cm in depth, breaking clods watering, rolling each layer with ½ tonne roller or wooden or steel rammers, and rolling every 3rd and top-most layer with power roller of minimum 8 tonnes and dressing up in embankments for roads, flood banks, marginal banks and guide banks or filling up ground depressions, lead upto 50 m and lift upto 1.5 m :

Note: In case the measurement of actual filling is taken to calculate the quantity involved under this item, the entire quantity of filling thus calculated, should not be considered straightway for payment under this item, but the net quantity after deduction 10% quantity for not consolidating the filling under optimum moisture content only should be considered for payment, under this rate, i.e., if the calculated quantity of filling is 10 cum the payment should be made only for 9 cum under this item. (Refer CPWD specification clause 2.10.5)

Banking excavated earth in layers not exceeding 20 cm. in depth, breaking clods, watering, rolling each layer with ½ tonne roller, or wooden or steel rammers, and rolling every 3rd and top-most layer with power roller of minimum 8 tonnes and dressing up, in embankments for roads, flood banks, marginal banks, and guide banks etc., lead upto 50 m and lift upto 1.5 m.

Note:(Refer CPWD specification clause 2.10.5)If the banking or filling is not consolidated to optimim moisture content the quantity of filling work out after actual measurement should be deducted by 10% to arrive at the net payable quantity. The measurement of excavation as prescribed in this item especially for consolidation, is not for consolidation with optimum moisture content.Hence the deduction of 10% quantity from the actual measured and calculated quantity to arrive a correct quantity for payment is mandatory.

Deduct for not rolling with power roller of minimum 8 tonnes for banking excavated earth in layers not exceeding 20 cm in depth.
