Welcome to Monteverde, Costa Rica, a small town nestled in the mountains surrounded by some of the most
famous biological reserves in the world and site of our Winterim.
Our Winterim offers a unique mix of language learning, home stays, cultural activities, travel, biological exploration, and volunteer work.
The core of the program consist of 2 hours of hands-on language instruction in the morning with native speakers at Centro Panamericano de Idiomas, a language institute
which offers instruction for all levels.
Everyday we eat lunch at a nearby restaurant where sampling the local cuisine and sharing our impressions is part of the
experience.
In the afternoon we have something new practically every day. There are the reserves to explore on guided hikes…….
Art classes where we learn to use local cloud forest materials to make jewelry, books, and souvenirs.
Visiting the butterfly farm is always one of the most popular activities…..especially the part where
we get to eat bugs.

We try to catch a concert at the Monteverde International Music Festival which occurs during our stay. In fact, the music we are enjoying right now is the group that we heard last year.
Hey mom! It’s a volcano. Over the weekend we will visit the Arenal area of the country to relax in volcanic hot springs
and explore the natural beauty of the region.
