ABOUT USFROM THE BUSINESS MANAGER
Welcome to the Wooster Voice Media Kit!
The Wooster Voice is a student produced paper that is published and distrib-uted to a student population of 1,854 as well as faculty and staff. Each week, our publication strives to deliver interesting news and information to this
audience, including advertisements.
The College of Wooster is a niche market that is waiting to be broken into, whether you represent a graduate program looking for recruits or are the owner of a restaurant, searching for ways to attract new customers. To help you enter this market, we have developed this media kit in order to provide
the simplest and most effective service possible.
Over 500 First Year students will attend the College of Wooster this academic year searching for restaurants, barber shops and salons, convenience stores, and entertainment for the first time. Rather than relying solely on word of mouth, your enterprise can reach every student through one medium; the
Wooster Voice.
In addition to promoting your own business or event, advertising in the Wooster Voice is contributing to an entirely volunteer run organization, ded-icated to serving the campus since 1883. Your advertisement is not simply a
promotion, but supporting a time honored, College of Wooster tradition.
Placing an ad in the Wooster Voice is a no lose situation for all parties, and we’re happy to provide the opportunity. So please, investigate this media kit,
and do not be afraid to contact us if any questions arise.

ADVERTISINGRATES
PCI (per column inch) The sizes and prices listed above are only a few of your options. In case you’re interested in learning how we calculate our prices, here’s a brief explanation:
Multiply the dimensions of your ad in inches (Length x Width). Then, multi-ply the result by the appropriate dollar rate. In simple terms, PCI = (Length x Width x Rate). For example, if you are a business that would like to purchase a two column ad in one issue.
4.3” (length) x 3.75” (width) x $5 (rate for a business) = 80.625. Therefore, the price for you to place an ad is $80.63.

Advertising doesn’t come cheap and we at the Voice realize that truly effective advertising doesn’t consist of cramming as much text as you can in you display space. Rather effective advertising uses negative space to draw the eye and communicates your message in a simple, easy to understand way that will keep your brand in readers’ minds. The Wooster Voice is proud to offer basic design services to help your ad stand out, whether you choose to go with the print or online edition. Contact us today for more information.
The Wooster Voice has specific requirements for all images submitted. If you are submitting an image to be published in the print edition, submit them at a resolution of 300 dpi. Images intended for publication on the website must be submitted at a resolution of 72 dpi.
Font files are not universal and often, businesses find that using a special font enables them to develop a brand and distinguish themselves from competitors. In order to make sure your advertisment is published the way your business needs, please be sure to include any and all font files you wish for us to use. If you are sending Photoshop files, please flatten the image and if you are sending PDF files, please ensure that all fonts are embedded when you save the file. If these rules aren’t adhered to, it might become necessary for the Voice to substi-tute fonts without notification.
The Wooster Voice runs on Macinstosh OS. While PDFs are our preferred file format, we can also accept PNG, JPEG, GIF, and PSD files. We are also able to accept most files created on a PC, including Publisher files. If you have an questions or concerns, the business department is here to help.
If our production department is creating or designing an advertisement for you, all relevant information is due at least a week before the paper is printed in order to ensure there is enough time to edit and re-edit the ad to youradvertis-ing needs. Please see the next page for an illustrated example.
