Welcome to the 16th Annual Rainalta Simmentals and Uluru Red Angus Bull Sale. These folks have alwaysbrought you one of the very useful sale offerings in the country. Rainalta have always walked very func-tional and well sourced herdbulls in their pastures. On the AI side, they have purchased the lead off AIbulls offered to the industry. The AI sires of this years offering are as good as it gets. Bill used Red Ace,Beef Maker and Bravado and they have sired a great offering. The Uluru Red Angus bulls are tried andtested bred and developed to go out and get the cows bred with longevity second to none. Ask anybodywho has used them. We certainly want to welcome the Fisk boys into this sale. Good young people eagerto get more involved and developing a very good program.

Bull development and deliveryYearling bulls will be kept until the end of Marchand 2yr old delivered after sale. Bulls must be in-sured if returning to seller.Health and FertilityAll bulls will have a scrotal measurement and a vetexamination done prior to the sale. All bulls over12 months of age will also be semen tested; anybulls under 12 months of age will return to theseller’s farm to be tested after the sale. Bovine Viral Diarrhea, or BVD, is an important disease of cattle. The prevalence or inci-dence of the disease is relatively low, but if you happen to have it in your herd it can leadto a host of problems. BVD is a complicated disease that can show up as stillbirths or de-formed calves, late term abortions, early embryonic death (early pregnancies are re-sorbed), persistently infected animals (PI animals), or increased incidence of otherdiseases such as scours, or pneumonia outbreaks that are difficult to resolve. The majorreservoir of virus is the Persistently infected animal. This animal was infected by the virusbetween 50 and 150 days of gestation. The immune system believes that the virus is a nor-mal part of the body so it is infected for life, in fact every cell in the animal’s body be-comes a virus factory, releasing large amounts of virus into the environment (such aswater bowls, feed troughs etc.) Over 50% of PI animals die by 12 to 18 months of age,and probably 90% are dead by 24 months. The PI animal that sheds millions of virus par-ticles daily is a threat to herd mates because the virus suppresses the immune systemmaking them more susceptible to other diseases. This is where the greatest economiclosses occur. Vaccination against BVD will not eradicate it from your herd if it is present(vaccine has no effect on a PL animal), but will help to minimize some of the effects. Tak-ing ear notch samples and testing for BVD is the only way to prove an animal is not a PI.Testing and Vaccination work together. Buying bulls that are tested PI negative and vacci-nated against BVD as calves and pre-breeding is the best way to avoid bringing BVD inwith your herdsire purchases. All the Simmental bulls in this sale have been ear-notchtested negative for BVD.

Terms - The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable at par at sale location unless satisfactory credit arrangements have been made prior to thesale. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement is made. Bouchard Livestock Ltd. reserves the right to require a certifi ed cheque as settlement before releasing any sale cattle. Should the purchaser fail to settle for his purchase, Bouchard Livestock Ltd. reserves full power to resell the animal to the best advantage, either publicly or privately, without further notice. Any loss arising from such resale together with keep and all other expenses shall be payable by the defaulter. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale before any cattle will be released. The owners, Bouchard Livestock Ltd. and sale staff have the right to refuse bids from anyone who has a previous record of default in payment and/or who has not made credit arrangements prior to the sale with the owners and/or sale management.Bid - Every animal consigned to the sale must be sold by auction.
