2010 Pre-Congress Workshop in 40th
Year Anniversary of Royal College of OB-GYN Surgeons
between Oct 12-15, 2010 at Royal Cliff, Pattaya
The biggest OB-Gyn surgeons meeting held between Oct 12-15, 2010 at Royal Cliff, Pattaya.
OB-Gyn surgeons was attend the OB-GYN Annual meeting more than 800 surgeons this year, Since this
year was 40 years anniversary of Royal College of OB-GYN Surgeons. Ethicon, J&J Medical was coordinate
with RCOGS for Pre- Congress Workshop on Oct 12, 2010. The objectives of this workshop was expand
knowledge for young Ob-Gyn surgeons to know more about about Sutures material and Hemostasis. We
invites 3 speaker to lecture in this session. We set up 6 stations for 30 participants practice related the
lecture. But the actual participant was 45 surgeons
1. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Virach , Fac. of Med. Songkhanakarin University, speak about benefit of
suture materials. He gave knowledge for suture selection and benefit from each sutures.
• He started with new innovative suture as Vicryl Plus, Monocryl Plus & PDS Plus which
encourage to use for bacterial colonization protection and he also talk to Vicryl Rapid
for Perineal clousure(Episiotomy)
• He mentions to Monocryl #1 usage for Post-partum hemorrhage patient by Prof. B-
lynch technique. This technique will save patient uterus instead cut it off. Monocryl
was the best suture for use due to Highest initial strength.
• Then he talked with PDS loop #1 for fascia closure in risk patient Which a few Ob-Gyn
surgeon knew.
• After that he mention to knot-o-meter and clinical related.
• Finally he mention to New Topical skin adhesive as Dermobond and encourage
everyone trial in workshop.
2. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nakarin , Fac. of Med. Chulalongkorn University, speak about Vessel sealing
technology for ENSEAL.
3. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chantawat, Fac. of Med. Chulalongkorn University, speak about fast and
worth for use of Fibrillar.
After lecture finished, J&J will help to run the workshop , We set 6 stations relating to lectures.

station was loop suturing technique, 3rd
station was Knot-0-meter,
4th
station was New Topical skin adhesive : Dermabond, 5th
station was FAST hemostasis: Fibrillar, 6th
station Vessel sealing from EES team : Harmonic Scalpel & ENSEAL.
