Sharing the Magic of Live Theatre WelcometoTheActingCompany!Weareyournon-profitcommunitytheaterinYubaCity,California.About26yearsago,agroupoflocalartistsjoinedtoform“Theatre‘86”withthegoaloffindingatheaterbuildingby1986.Theyproducedplaysthroughoutthecommunitytoraisethefundsneededandalthoughtheydidn’tfindabuildingby1986,theydideventuallysecureourcurrentlocationat815BStreetinYubaCityin1992.ThegroupofficiallychangedtheirnametoTheActingCompanyandforthepast17yearswehavebeensharingthemagicoflivetheaterwiththeYuba-Suttercommunityinourownlittlehome.

TheActingCompanyhasoperatedon100%volunteerworksinceitsinceptionandfinallywetookahugeleapforwardbyhiringapart-timetheatermanager.OurboxofficeisopenMondaysthroughFridaysfrom12-2p.m.toselltickets,takeyourreservations,andhelpyouwithanyquestionyoumighthave.

In2007,undertheauspicesofMagicTheatre,webeganofferingchildren’stheaterperformancesforyoungaudiences.For2010,ourchildren’stheaterfeaturessevenproductions,continuingwithperformancesonselectedSaturdayafternoonsat1:00and3:00p.m.Wewillalsocontinuetoofferworkshopsforyoungactors.

Weareexcitedtooffermilitarydiscountsinadditiontoourspecialratesforseniors,childrenandstudents.Ourdiscountsareavailableforopeningweekends.Forselectedshows,discountsareofferedfortheentirerunofthatshow.

InthepastdecadewehavebeennominatedfordozensofEllyAwardsbytheSacramentoAreaRegionalTheaterAlliance,andhavewon11oftheprestigioustheaterawards.

TheActingCompanysharesthemagicoflivetheaterbysupportingtheYuba-Suttercommunitywithsixfull-scaleproductionseachyear,entertainmentatlocalevents,children’stheater,actingworkshops,therentalofcostumesandprops,anddonatingperformancestolocalnon-profits.

Themagicoftheaterdoesn’thappenwithoutthesupportofourpatronsandlocalbusinesses.Thankstoyou,wecancontinuetoproducequalityperformingartsandofferopportunitiesthatbolsterteamwork,imagination,confidence,andartistictalent.

Theclasseswillbeheldfrom10:00to11:30,SaturdaymorningsatTheActingCompanytheatre.ThecostfortheseSaturdayClasseswillbe$60.00foreachofthefour-weeksessions.Scholarshipsareavailable.

VolunteersThereismuchmoretothetheaterprocessthanadirectorputtingagroupofactorsonstage.TheActingCompanyhasalwaysreliedonitsvolunteers,whichincludesthoseactorsandthatdirector.Tomakeiteasierforyoutobepartoftheater’srewardingexperience,wehavecreatedavolunteerprogram.Wewillhaveregularmeetings,rewardsforvolunteerhourscontributedandanannualrecognitiongatheringforvolunteers.
