2010 summer PLAYBOOKREGISTRATION INFORMATION1. Review all registration, transfer and refund information. Fillout registration form completely.2. Payment must accompany registration. Fax or phone-inregistration must be accompanied by a Visa, Discover orMastercard. Make check or money order payable to theHanover Park Park District.3. Members of households with a delinquent outstanding balanceshall not be allowed to register for park district programs orfacilities until said balance is paid in full.

RESIDENTS AND NON RESIDENT RATESA “resident” is defined as anyone living within the geographicalboundaries of the Hanover Park Park District. Residents inHanover Park Park District have priority for limited programs.You may be required to pay the non-resident fee even thoughyou live in Hanover Park because the boundaries of the villageare not the same as the boundaries of the Park District. Non-residents may register for programs for a fee that is 50% percenthigher than the resident fee or $15 over the resident fee,whichever is the smaller amount.

TRANSFERSRequests must be made in person. A $5 fee will apply formost transfers. A $10 fee will apply for Preschool,Before/After School Club and Camp.

REFUND POLICYRefunds will not be granted for class(es) missed or forgotten.All requests for refunds must be submitted in writing. Formsfor refunds are available at the Park District office. Refundsrequested for a program prior to the start of a class will beassessed a $5 fee. A request for a refund after the programbegins, but prior to the 2nd meeting, will also be assessed anadditional prorated fee based upon the per class cost. NOrefunds will be granted after the 2nd class with the exceptionof a written medical excuse with the fee based on the proratedcost per class and the normal service fee. Refunds for trips willnot be given unless the trip is canceled by the Park District ora replacement is found to take the trip. A $10 refund feeapplies for Preschool and Before/After School Club programs.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCEThe Youth Activity Supplement Program (Y.A.P.), sponsoredby the Village of Hanover Park offers residents who experienceundue hardship, an opportunity to enroll their children inrecreation programs. For more information call Gina Mastro-Strickler at (630) 837-2468 (ext. 121).

ACCESSIBILITYThe Hanover Park Park District, Centre Court Athletic Cluband all other facilities are accessible and comply with A.D.A.standards. The elevator in the Community Center is accessiblefrom all three levels and is available for public use.

PROGRAM CODE OF CONDUCTTo ensure enjoyable and safe programs for all participants,the Hanover Park Park District has developed a behaviorcode. Participants shall:

Show respect to all participants and staffRefrain from using foul languageRefrain from causing bodily harmShow respect to equipment, supplies and facilities

Additional rules are developed for specific programs asdeemed necessary by staff. Failure to comply with this Codeof Conduct may result in removal from program or eventwithout refund.

All household information must be updated ANNUALLY withHanover Park Park District residency documented with aPHOTO ID AND CURRENT UTILITY BILL. Continued proofof residency is necessary to guarantee that only residents livingwithin the Park District’s boundaries receive discounted rates.We sincerely appreciate your cooperation in assisting us tomaintain a current computer system database.

Online registration is now available through our website. If

you have not yet applied for online registration, a simple quick

visit to the Hanover Park Park District Community Center at

1919 Walnut, Hanover Park, Illinois is necessary to complete

the online registration form. Hanover Park Park District residents:

Please bring a photo ID and current utility bill documenting

your address within the boundaries of the Park District.

2. In Person

Register in person at the Park District office, 1919 Walnut

Ave., Hanover Park, during regular business hours. If you

have not already done so, you will be asked to complete a

3. Mail-In*

Prior to mailing in your registration, a Family Information

Form must be completed in person at the Park District office,

Park, IL 60133. Registration for Preschool, Before and After

School Club and youth sports must be made in person.

ThePark District is responsible for the maintenance, operationand administration of parks and park facilities under itsjurisdiction. The Park District is governed by five commissionerselected at large for overlapping, four-year terms. Thecommissioners set the policies for the operation of the ParkDistrict. Meetings are the second and fourth Mondays of themonth at 7 pm in the Community Center Board Room.Residents are welcome to attend.

B I K E P A T H A N D T R A I L SM A I N T E N A N C E P O L I C YMother Nature will be allowed to take her own course ofaction with respect to our park district bike paths and trails,located at Community Park, Ahlstrand Park, Harbor ParkEast-West, Nautilus Park and Ranger Park. In Illinois there isno legal duty to clear paths or trails. But if an agency voluntarilytakes on the job, liability may be imposed if it is notdone properly.

The Park District Risk Management Agency (PDRMA)recommends that we limit path maintenance to a thoroughseason-ending inspection and documentation of irregularities,that we fix any hazards and that we post signs conveying themessage that users of the paths and trails do so at theirown risk.

The annual Passport to Adventure Program is your ticket tothe many amazing and exciting activities that museums andexciting locations provide to enrich our lives and communities. TheProgram is designed for children between the ages of 4 and12 and sponsored by the Kane-DuPage Regional MuseumAssociation.

The HPPD Art Gallery will be participating in the months ofJune and July, Monday-Friday from 10 am to 7 pm and Sat-Sun from 10 am to 3 pm. Come on in to the CommunityCenter to pick up a passport booklet filled with destinations toover 50 museums, nature centers and historical sites in thewestern suburbs.

Fill your passport with as many stamps as you can! Aftervisiting five sites, participants who return their passport to thelocation stamped on the front page of their booklet receive acertificate noting their accomplishment. Visiting seven sitesearns a certificate and an additional incentive prizedetermined by each location. Keep your passport as a referenceguide for fun places to visit throughout the year.

Totally TwosThis program is designed to provide your child with their firstintroduction to a preschool setting. Children are eased intoseparation from their parents when ready. Classes willemphasize socialization and learning through play. Music,storytime, and arts and crafts are a few of the exciting newexperiences your toddler will enjoy.This program is an excellent stepping stone into our 3 year

Totally Twos InformationThe first day of each session is with parents. Parents will beable to see what a typical day at Totally Twos is like for theirchild. Policies and procedures will be explained during thefirst day.

Pull ups are accepted, but our teachers are not able tochange any child. Children should be in the process of learninghow to be toilet independent while attending this program.Parents must be available to return to the program to changetheir child’s pull up or in case of a bathroom accident.

Fees are based on how many days class will be in sessiondue to official school holidays. For our cancellation and transferpolicies, please refer to our parent’s manual.

MAKE A MESS! Be prepared to get dirty! We will be playing fun games usingshaving gel, whipped cream, and paint. We’ll create goo,playdough, and messy art projects!

2010 summer PLAYBOOKBEFORE & AFTER SCHOOL CLUB (BASC) INFORMATIONDays Off A monthly calendar is sent home at the beginning of each month listing the days that the program is not in session. BASC doesnot run on days when school is not in session. If the school closes due to inclement weather the BASC will be closed. For latestart days, BSC will not be in session. For early dismissal, ASC will not be in session.

Registration InformationRegistration must be completed at the park district office. Phone-in registration will not be accepted. A parent handbook will begiven out at the time of registration. Included in the handbook is an Emergency Release Form. This form is due on the first dayof BASC.

Payment InformationTuition is based on the total number of days school is actually in session per year. Fees are divided into 9 equal payments forthe school year and will not be lower for those months that have fewer attendance days due to holidays (i.e. winter and springbreak). Participants are not charged for holidays and days off from school. A $15 non-resident fee will be charged at the timeof registration when applicable.

Teams are offered at the U10 (3rd/4thgrade), U12 (5th/6th grade) and U14 (7th/8th grade) levels. A current driver’slicense AND a current utility bill that shows your name andaddress will be needed to confirm residency. Families with over 5 members will require birth certificates forall children 23 years and under to be included on the pass. Afamily is defined as parent(s) and any unmarried children whoare between the ages of 3 and 23 who are living at home,and, grandparents who live at the same address (proof ofresidency is required). Children who are 24 and older or anyother relatives/individuals in the same household will not beincluded in the family pass. Children age 2 and under will notrequire a pass. 2010 summer PLAYBOOKLEARN TO SWIM PROGRAMThe Hanover Park Park District’s Learn To Swim Programoffers swimming instruction for people of all ages and abilities.Swim lessons are available several sessions throughout thesummer. Rain dates are reserved for make-up classes due toinclement weather. The Learn To Swim Parent Manual isavailable at registration, the first day of lessons and on thePark District website at www.hpparks.org. Participants 5years & older will be tested the first day of class and placedin the Seahorse through Sharks levels. Parents and otherspectators are permitted to wait on the deck area under theFunbrellas or the Oasis concession area. Advance registration is recommended to ensure choice of class timesfor the entire summer. Registration will not be acceptedafter the registration deadline to ensure low ratios, qualitylessons and instructor availability. The park district reservesthe right to combine class levels if deemed appropriate.

Swim Lessons*Morning Lesons meet Monday-Thursday of both weekswith make-up days on each Friday if needed. The last Fridayof each 2-week session will be Family Fun Day 9-10 am.

Dance CampsDesigned to fit around the family vacation, two summer Dance Camps, meeting July 12 through July 23, offer a concentratedlook at a variety of dance styles plus simple scripts and ways to create minimalistic costumes and scenery.

The morning Dance Camp for ages 5 to 9 will be based on the theme of “Toy Story.” Instructor Donica Luzwick will introducecreative movement, rhythm, and Dance fundamentals. Attire: Leotard with tights, biker shorts, or jazz pants. Ballet or jazz shoesacceptable. No jeans or athletic shoes. Hair must be worn in a ponytail.

Afternoon Dance Camp for ages 10 and up will be based on the theme of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”and will develop a variety of dance skills, introduce choreography, and explore simple scripts, costumes and scenery. Beginnersand advanced dancers will benefit from an opportunity to deepen knowledge, gain physical strength, and participate in anensemble. Attire: Leotard and stirrup/footless/convertible tights or capri length jazz pants, black jazz or ballet shoes. No jeansor athletic shoes. Hair must be worn in a ponytail.

Dancers in both camps will give a performance for family and friends during the last half-hour on the final day of class. Pleasebring a snack each day. One water bottle per dancer per day will be provided.

Allegro Dance Company IntensivesThe Allegro Dance Companies are two invitation-only ensembles of advanced dancers who demonstrate high levels of commitmentand skill and who wish to perform at venues beyond an annual recital. Led by Donica Luzwick, the ensembles appear at ParkDistrict and community events throughout the year. Summer Intensives meet Tuesday evenings beginning June 15 throughAugust 17, and will prepare dancers for performances at HPPD picnics, the Schaumburg Flyers game, IAPD Day at the IllinoisState Fair, Schaumburg Septemberfest, and other local events.

General InformationCamps are 1 week sessions, unless otherwise noted.

Each session participants will go on an exciting fieldtrip.

Swim time will be part of each of the full-day camps.

A theme calendar and Camp T-shirt will be sent home the firstday.

Emergency form must be returned to staff on the first day ofCamp.

Campers must bring sunblock, lunch, snack, and a water bot-tle.

Ratio of counselors to campers equal 1:10.

Camp StaffCamp staff are hired for their enthusiastic, fun, and creativepersonalities.

All staff attend training programs prior to Camp.

Mandatory background checks for all staff and drivers.

Supervisors are mature and responsible adults.

Counselors are 16 years and older.

All staff are CPR/AED and First Aid certified.

Camp Registration InformationParents must register in person for all Camp programs.Parents will receive a “Summer Day Camp Parent Manual”and emergency form at the time of registration.

The registration deadline is one week prior to the camp’sstart date. Those who register after the deadline may not beable to attend until staff and bus service are secured.

A payment plan is available to all 5 day session Campregistrants! A $25 down payment per child, per 5-day Campsession is required at the time of registration to reserve aplace in the Camp program. Payment must be made at thePark District office with the balance paid in full by theWednesday preceding each Camp session. If not paid in fullby the required date, the deposit will be forfeited, the child willbe dropped from the Camp session and their spot will not beheld. The payment plan option is for Day Camp only and maynot be used for Bus Service, Extended Care or otherCamp programs.

Full Camp session fees are required. Pro-rating is not available.

Requests for transfers must be made in person, in writing atthe Park District office. Transfers requested after thesession’s start date are subject to the approval of theRecreation Services Supervisor. A $10.00 transfer fee will beapplied to all transfers and must be paid prior to the transferbeing processed. If the transfer requires a refund to beissued, a refund fee of $10.00 will also be applied.

Cancellation and refund requests must be made in person, inwriting, at the Park District office and are subject to a $10.00fee per program. NO REFUNDS will be granted after the 2ndday of Camp with the exception of a written medical excusewith the refund based on the prorated cost and the refund feeapplied.

Camp Open HouseMEET THE STAFF! Staff will be available in their camprooms to answer any questions from parents and campers.Staff will discuss specific camp curriculum, camp policies,age ranges, procedures and field trips at your camp site.Campers will become more comfortable with their newsurroundings and will get a jump start on their summer campexperience.

RESIDENTS AND NON RESIDENT RATESA “resident” is defined as anyone living within the geographicalboundaries of the Hanover Park Park District. Residents inHanover Park Park District have priority for limited programs.You may be required to pay the non-resident fee even thoughyou live in Hanover Park because the boundaries of the villageare not the same as the boundaries of the Park District. Non-residents may register for programs for a fee that is 50% percenthigher than the resident fee or $15 over the resident fee,whichever is the smaller amount.

TRANSFERSRequests must be made in person. A $5 fee will apply formost transfers. A $10 fee will apply for Preschool andBefore/After School Club.

REFUND POLICYRefunds will not be granted for class(es) missed or forgotten.All requests for refunds must be submitted in writing. Formsfor refunds are available at the Park District office. Refundsrequested for a program prior to the start of a class will beassessed a $5 fee. A request for a refund after the programbegins, but prior to the 2nd meeting, will also be assessed anadditional prorated fee based upon the per class cost. NOrefunds will be granted after the 2nd class with the exceptionof a written medical excuse with the fee based on the proratedcost per class and the normal service fee. Refunds for trips willnot be given unless the trip is canceled by the Park District ora replacement is found to take the trip. A $10 refund feeapplies for Preschool and Before/After School Club programs.

PROGRAM CODE OF CONDUCTTo ensure enjoyable and safe programs for all participants,the Hanover Park Park District has developed a behaviorcode. Participants shall:

Additional rules are developed for specific programs asdeemed necessary by staff. Failure to comply with this Codeof Conduct may result in removal from program or eventwithout refund.

All household information must be updated ANNUALLY withHanover Park Park District residency documented with aPHOTO ID AND CURRENT UTILITY BILL. Continued proofof residency is necessary to guarantee that only residents livingwithin the Park District’s boundaries receive discounted rates.We sincerely appreciate your cooperation in assisting us tomaintain a current computer system database.

FIVE EASY AND CONVENIENT WAYS TO REGISTER1. Online Registration – www.hpparks.org

Online registration is now available through our website. If

you have not yet applied for online registration, a simple quick

visit to the Hanover Park Park District Community Center at

1919 Walnut, Hanover Park, Illinois is necessary to complete

the online registration form. Hanover Park Park District residents:

Please bring a photo ID and current utility bill documenting

your address within the boundaries of the Park District.

2. In Person

Register in person at the Park District office, 1919 Walnut

Ave., Hanover Park, during regular business hours. If you

have not already done so, you will be asked to complete a

Family Information Form. Hanover Park Park District residents:

your address within the boundaries of the Park District.

3. Mail-In*

Prior to mailing in your registration, a Family Information

Form must be completed in person at the Park District office,

accompanied by proof of Hanover Park Park District residency

if you are a resident. Then, complete the registration form and

mail to the Hanover Park Park District, 1919 Walnut, Hanover

Park, IL 60133. Registration for Preschool, Before and After

School Club and youth sports must be made in person.

4. Fax-In*

Prior to faxing in your registration, a Family Information Form

must be completed in person at the Park District office,

accompanied by proof of Hanover Park Park District residency

if you are a resident. Fax completed registration form, including

Visa, Mastercard, or Discover credit card information to

630-837-9720.

5. Phone-In Registration*

Prior to phoning in your registration, a Family Information

Form must be completed in person at the Park District office,

accompanied by proof of Hanover Park Park District residency

if you are a resident.

Photo PolicyThe Hanover Park Park District reserves the right to photo-

graph or videotape participants in Park District programs,

facilities or parks for the District’s use.
