Undergraduate Admission Eligibility Freshman
Applicants must complete elementary, junior-high and high school education.
Transfer
Applicants must finish undergraduate education for at least two years after they complete elementary, junior-
high and high school education. They can transfer to the second year (sophomore) or third year (junior).
General Requirements
International applicants (holding non-Korean citizenship) must be foreign nationals whose parents are notKorean citizens. (International applicants have to meet one of the following requirements for application.)
a. Achieved Level 4 in the Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK).
b. An individual who has completed or is expected to complete the Level 4 Korean language course in the
KLCP at the University of Seoul.
c. Studied in an educational institution in Korea for more than 2 years.
d. Applicants should be a graduate from an overseas Korean School.
e. Applicants should meet a Korean language proficiency requirement specified by Dean of the Institute of
International Cooperation and Education (IICE).

Required Documents

04. Letter of Recommendation from a teacher of the applicant's previous institution
Applicants must submit a sealed and signed envelope containing a Letter of Recommendation.
05. Official transcripts and High School Diploma or Certificate of (expected) Graduation
Additionally, transfer applicants are required to submit the Certificate of Attendance (or Certificate of Graduation) and
the official transcript of the applicants undergraduate school.
Graduation diplomas and official transcripts earned in China must also be submitted with their Academic Certificates
issued by the Ministry of Education of China.

07. EITHER one of (1) certificate of the applicants bank deposit balance showing a minimum deposit balance of US$10,000
maintained for at least one month, or (2) certificate of remittance of funds corresponding to US$10,000 to Korea, or (3)
certificate of exchange of money corresponding to US$10,000 OR all of (1) certificate of the applicants financial
supporters bank deposit balance showing a minimum deposit balance of US$10,000 maintained for at least one month,
and (2) certificate of the financial supporters employment or a copy of his/her business proprietor registration, and (3) the

The applicants financial supporter should be a person of the same nationality or a legal resident in Korea.
If the financial supporter is a member of applicants family, the applicant should submit the documents to prove it.

09. If the applicant has Chinese nationality, he or she should submit a copy of Certificate of Household Register in Korean orEnglish and a copy of his or her resident card of China.

All documents must be the ORIGINALS. If applicants submit copies of the originals, they should be
confirmed with the originals by the receptionist. All documents that are in a language other than English

Graduate Admission Eligibility Master's
An individual who has completed a four-year-undergraduate program and holds a Bachelors degree.
Doctoral
An individual who has completed a four-year-undergraduate program and holds a Bachelors and a
Masters degree.
General Requirements
International applicants are defined as those who are non-Korean citizens and whose parents are both non-Korean citizens.
a. Applicants should submit an officially recognized English Proficiency Test score (TOEIC, TOEFL, IELTS,
TEPS, CET)
The following applicants are exempted from the above requirement.
- Applicants who apply to Department of Korean Language and Literature and Department of Korean
History.
- Applicants who speak English as a mother tongue or official language in their country.
b. Applicants also should meet one of the following requirements.
(1) Achieved Level 4 in the Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK).
(2) Have taken Korean language courses in Korea.
- If applicants plan to finish Level 4 Korean Language course in the Korean Language and CultureProgram(KLCP) at the University of Seoul, or
- If applicants have already completed Level 4 or plan to finish Level 5 Korean Language course at other

The interview can be substituted by a phone interview only when the applicants are not currently in Korea without any types of Korean

ScholarshipsUndergraduateFull-tuition scholarships or half of the Full-tuition scholarships are offered to the admitted international students.

b. Half-tuition scholarships to students for top 20% class rank.
Graduate
a. Masters and doctoral courses of Department of Korean Language and Literature, Department of Korean History, and doctoral course of
Departments or majors of Science and Engineering Discipline: Full-tuition scholarship
The maximum number of recipients of masters course of Department of Korean Language and Literature and Department of
Korean History is limited to 5.
b. Masters course of Department of Korean Language and Literature, Department of Korean History, and departments or majors of
Science and Engineering Discipline: Half-tuition scholarship (Full-tuition scholarship recipients are excluded)
c. Masters and doctoral courses of Human and Social Science Discipline (provision within budget allocations)
- Full-tuition Scholarship is awarded to the 10% of the international students who are recommended by the head of their department,
and approved by the Dean of the Graduate School.
- Half-tuition scholarship is awarded to the 30% of the international students who are recommended by the head of their department,
and approved by the Dean of the Graduate School (Full-tuition scholarship recipients are excluded).
d. Termination of Scholarship : International students with a GPA of below 3.0 in the previous semester (excludes new students)
e. International students are subject to a new eligibility criteria if the UOS scholarship policy changes.
f. Recipients of the International Students Scholarships are also eligible to apply for other research scholarships available within the UOS.
g. Recipients of extramural scholarships are not eligible for full-tuition or half-tuition scholarships.

Program OutlineThe Korean Language and Culture Program (KLCP) offers intensive Korean language courses and cultural orientation to Korea. The KLCP
offers 4 terms a year, each term running for 10 weeks for all 6 levels. The courses focus on speaking, listening, grammar and writing. The
class size is kept small (no more than 15 students) so that each student can receive personal attention and encouragement and also can
make the most of cultural activities around Seoul.

Class Hours 9:00 am ~ 12:50 pm (level 1, 3, 5)
1:10 pm ~ 5:00 pm (level 2, 4, 6)Class Size 10 ~ 15 students
Policy Students are required to attend at least 160 hours. Students who miss more than 40 hours per term will fail
and are not able to advance to the next level.
Levels 6 levels
*All the new students should take a comprehensive placement test to determine their optimal class level. This
placement test covers different areas of Korean skill including listening, speaking, reading and writing.
Activities Field Trips and Culture Classes, Language Exchange Program with UOS students, Student Counseling
CurriculumKorean language courses meet Monday through Friday for 4 hours and cultural classes and various activities will be offered at least three
times per semester.

EligibilityAll applicants must be at least 15 years of age and a high school student or the equivalent. Applicants must meet Korean visa
requirements.
Tuition and FeesRegular Program
Tuition for 1 term (10 weeks) is 1,150,000 won including 50,000 won of non-refundable application fee, all field trips, and social activities fee.
Short-Term Program
- Tuition for 3 week Program is 790,000 won including 50,000 won of non-refundable application fee, all field trips, social activities fee and
text books. Dormitory fee for 3 weeks is 210,000 won (10,000 won per 1 night)
- Tuition for 1 week Program is 410,000 won including 50,000 won of non- refundable application fee, all field trips, social activities fee and
text books. Dormitory fee for 1 weeks is 60,000 won (10,000 won per 1 night)

RefundsThe application fee is non-refundable, but it is possible to
receive a full or partial refund for tuition. To receive a refund,

semester begins will be refunded 70% of their tuition.
c. If students withdraw after the opening of a course or do not
appear at all in class during the first week without any

Accommodation
The UOS can help you find accommodation. Accommodationinformation will be provided upon your request. There are
several types of accommodation available :
On-Campus Dormitory : A limited number of on-campus
dormitory rooms are available on a first-come first-serve
basis. If students prefer dormitory housing, they should
submit a dormitory application when applying for KLCP. The
first priority for dormitory rooms will be given to the students
who do not know anyone in Korea or who might have
difficulties in living in Korea.
Boarding house (so called Hasukjip) : Korean boarding
house is similar to homestay and easily found near the
University. The owner usually provides 2 meals (breakfast and
dinner) per day. (Rates : KRW 400,000 ~ 500,000 per month)
Studio ('one-room') : It is usually contains one unit which
serves as a bedroom, a kitchen, and a living room. (rates :
KRW 500,000 ~ 600,000 per month)
Go-shi-won : Similar to a Hasook-jib is a place called Go-
Shi-won. It costs less than Ha-Sook-jib (about KRW 300,000
per month), but do not include meals, and the rooms tend to
be considerably small.
