Jennifer Bridges will begin her second season as the head softball coach at So-noma State University in 2011.

In her first season with the Seawolves in 2010, Bridges led the softball team to a CCAA Tournament Championship title with a program record 43-18 mark after finishing second in the regular season standings. The CCAA title was the first for a female team at Sonoma State since it joined the conference in 1998-99.

Sonoma State earned a bid to host the NCAA Division II West Sub-Regional in Rohnert Park, but was eventually elimi-nated. Like the CCAA title, this was an unprecedented event as the softball team had never hosted a playoff in program history.

The Seawolves led the CCAA in nearly ev-ery offensive statistical category, includ-ing batting average, slugging percent-age, on base percentage, runs scored, hits, runs batted in, home runs, total bas-es and hit by pitches. SSU also shattered the school record for most home runs in a season with 52 -- the previous mark of 24 was set back in 2007. Bridges’ pitch-ing staff also had a huge year, tossing two no-hitters and grabbing three con-ference Pitcher of the Week awards.

Prior coming to Sonoma State, Bridges was the head coach at Whittier in 2008 and 2009. She led the Poets to unprec-edented levels of success, including the program’s first ever conference tour-nament appearance last spring. Her two-year record at Whittier was 45-35 and the squad’s 24 wins in ‘09 were the most for the program since 1987.

In addition to her coaching duties, Bridges also served as an Assistant Athletics Director and Senior Woman Administrator at Whittier.

Prior to taking the reigns at Whittier, Bridges spent four seasons (2004-2007) as an assistant coach at the Uni-versity of San Diego. She also coached the University of San Diego High School squad in 2002 and 2003.

Bridges played NCAA Division I softball at the University of San Diego and was her team’s captain as a junior and se-nior.

A graduate of the University of San Diego with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psy-chology, Bridges earned her Master’s Degree in Physical Education from Azusa Pacific University.

Trisha McCormick is in her second season season as the assistant softball coach at Sonoma State University in 2011.

McCormick was instrumental in helping the Seawolves to a program-record 43 wins in her first season as the assistant coach at Sonoma State.

The California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) has been one of the nation’s most successful inter-collegiate athletic conferences since its establishment in December 1938.

The 12-member league is home to some of the nation’s finest NCAA Division II athletic programs in Cal Poly Pomo-na, Cal State Dominguez Hills, Cal State East Bay, Cal State L.A., Cal State Monterey Bay, Cal State San Bernardino, Cal State Stanislaus, Chico State, Humboldt State, UC San Diego, San Francisco State and Sonoma State.

These institutions compete in seven women’s and six men’s CCAA-sponsored sports. Fall sports include men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s soccer and women’s volleyball. Men’s and women’s basketball are contested in the winter, and women’s tennis, men’s golf, men’s and women’s outdoor track & field, softball and baseball comprise spring competition.

CCAA members have won 148 NCAA Championships (100 men, 48 women) which is far and away the most of any Division II conference.

The CCAA has undergone several changes in conference membership since charter members UC Santa Barbara, Fresno State, San Diego State and San Jose State came together to form the league in 1938. Over the past 68 years, a number of institutions have been members of the CCAA, including Cal State Northridge, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Chapman, Cal State Fullerton, Long Beach State, Pacific, Pepperdine, UC Riverside, UC Davis and Grand Canyon University.
