Neighbourhood Living Room Schedule: When indicated, the living room will be available only to specific user groups during that time slot. The Old Barn Community Centre reserves the right to alter schedules at its discretion.

Registration: Registration will remain open until the program is full unless otherwise agreed upon by The Old Barn Program Coordinator and the Instructor.

Participation: Only registered participants are able to join the session – drop-ins must pay before the start of each class.

Drop-in: All participants must pay the drop-in/registration fee and hand a drop-in receipt to the instructor.

Make-up Classes: Any cancelled classes will first be re-scheduled for the end of the session in the same time slot. If that time is not available, then the class will be re-scheduled by The Old Barn Program Coordinator and SRC Programmer (if applicable).

Pro-rating: Classes will be pro-rated until the end of the session unless the program does not allow registration after the start date (does not include SRC programs).

Program Cancellation: Programs may be cancelled if a minimum number of registrants are not met one week prior to the start date. Register early to ensure a program proceeds. A full refund will be made for any cancelled programs. Refunds: Old Barn programs: Pro-rated refunds will be given until 1 hour after the end of the second class by The Old Barn Front Desk staff (there is $5 non-refundable administration fee). Following the second class, refunds may be considered on a case-by-case basis by the Community Centre Manager. SRC programs: Please contact the Student Recreation Centre for further details.Exercise Room: Refunds will only be offered for medical conditions (a doctors note must be provided). Other extenuating circumstances will be reviewed by the Community Centre Manager.

Available EquipmentSports equipment is available from the community centre front desk in exchange for a piece of ID. Parents/guardians must accompany their child under the age of 12 when borrowing equipment. Equipment includes: • Soccer balls • Badminton sets • Basketballs • Volleyballs • Foosball • Table Tennis • Giant Chess Set • Mahjong Set

Anyone 13 years* and over is welcome to enjoy The Old Barn Exercise Room. You can buy a membership for up to a year or enjoy exercise room drop-in rates. Special rates are available for UNA residents and UBC students, faculty and staff. Identification is required to qualify for a discounted membership rate and to provide proof of age. You are welcome to bring a personal trainer to the gym. Please note that personal trainers are required to pay the drop-in fee. *Youth 13 to 16 years old may use the exercise room only after the completion of The Old Barn Youth Gym Program. See Page 17.

The Old Barn Community Centre is looking forward to the warmer weather and seeing you this spring and summer. We hope our spring and summer program guide offers you many of your favourite programs and the intrigue of something new.In anticipation of the warmer weather we are offering a variety of outdoor events that should keep you and your family busy. In the spring look for our weekly campus tours, bike clinic, and Earth Day and Easter activities. For the summer we will be continuing our popular “Evening in the Park” programming with musical performances being held in Hawthorn, Chancellor and Wesbrook neighbourhoods.We hope you enjoy our spring and summer programming and as always please feel free to stop by the office with program suggestions or for a visit with Charlie the rabbit.

Photos: Photos may be taken of program participants for use by The Old Barn for its marketing and promotions. Photos may appear in the recreation guide, within The Old Barn or on The Old Barn website. Should a participant or parent have concerns about their own or their child’s photo being taken, please inform the Program Coordinator.

Family Movie NightsAll ages welcomeBring the whole family to watch family movies free of charge on the first Saturday of each month at The Old Barn. Popcorn and drinks are available for $1 each. Chairs will be provided, but feel free to bring your blankets and pillows. Parents must accompany their children. Celebrate Earth EventsUNA & BC Hydro Earth Day EventBe sure to come out and participate in this year’s UNA Earth Day event. We will feature a BC Hydro Power Smart team who will share tips on how to conserve electricity. There will be plenty to learn with interactive activities and prizes for adults and kids. We will also have an e-waste drop-off event, information about the UNA composting program, and more. Watch for more information in The Campus Resident newspaper and “myuna announcements”.

Campus Guided ToursYou’ve joined a vibrant, sustainable community where people live, work and learn on a world-class campus. Join our weekly UTown@UBC Walking Tour to hear how UBC is transforming from a commuter campus into a pedestrian-friendly community and a living lab. Highlights of the tour include green buildings, such as the C.K. Choi Building and recent expansion at Totem Park Residence; green infrastructure under construction at CIRS on Sustainability Street; and improvements to public spaces on campus such as the Buchanan Courtyards. Tour runs approximately one hour, beginning and ending at the Old Barn Community Centre. Choose 1 of the 9 sessions available.

Bike ClinicThe Old Barn and the UBC Bike Kitchen are proud to be offering a free bike clinic. The bike clinic is not only offering free tune-ups, but is serving as an educational opportunity to learn about fixing your own bicycle. Knowledgeable mechanics will also be holding mini-demonstrations to empower people to learn to fix their own bikes. This event will take place on a first come, first serve basis. For four Fridays throughout the summer The Old Barn Community Centre will be providing live music in various parks throughout the UNA neighbourhoods. This was a very successful event last summer and it is anticipated that it will be once again. This program will help encourage development using movement, song, social interaction and by providing a safe space to explore in. Participants will be introduced to new shapes, colours, textures, songs and movement patterns.This is also a great place for parents to meet each other and discuss the challenges and joys of being a parent. The Changing Aging™ individual programs are designed to provide prevention of the common problems of aging: osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, dependent living, falls, etc. Osborne’s select group of personal trainers are all certified to prescribe fitness programs and take extensive training on the contraindications of clinical conditions. Team up with our fun and energetic leader for an action packed party!

They will assist you with set-up, clean-up, activities and decorating ideas.

All Parties include:• A party leader for 2 hours (Saturdays 1-3pm) that will lead the activities and assist you with the party preparation.• A room at The Old Barn decorated with balloons and banners.• Access to kitchen area (Please be advised that the kitchen only includes a refrigerator and microwave, no oven or stove.)
