Over the past 15 years, the Foundation has contributed more than $1.5 million to provide opportunities for disadvantaged youths throughout the Chicagoland area, deepening our connection between the club and the community.

For the Chicago Fire Soccer Club, 2012 was an inspiring year both on-and-off-the-field. The Chicago Fire and Chicago Fire Foundation continue to make an enduring impact in Chicago. Each year, the Foundation utilizes innovative events to engage supporters, expand our reach and build the Fire brand in support of our soccer and education programs. In 2012 our two marquee events, the Season Kickoff Luncheon and White Party, sold out and combined to raise over $120,000. A Chicago Tribune article previewing the year ahead listed the Fire’s White Party as one of the top anticipated Chicago parties for 2013. In 2012 the Chicago Fire Foundation hosted its second annual Art of Futbol event, a one-of-a-kind art exhibition that brings together local artists to share their vision of the beautiful game. The Chicago Fire Foundation also launched Fire, Brews, and Bites, the Club’s first ever beer tasting event, which gave supporters the opportu-nity to try unique beer pairings with a variety of small plates in a fun atmosphere. We are especially proud of our programs and partnerships which support our mission to improve the quality of life for young people and communities across the city. 2012 was the second year the Chicago Fire Foundation participated in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon Charity Program, and in October our team of 22 Fire supporters ran 26.2 miles and raised over $18,000 for the Fire Foundation. We continued our participation in the U.S. Soccer Foundation’s Passback Program, collecting over 3,000 pieces of gently used soccer equipment on behalf of youth soccer programs in need. In 2012, the Chicago Fire Foundation partnered with the Leukemia & Lymphoma society for its Soccer Kicks for Cancer program. Throughout the 2012 season our long-running “Kicks for Kids” program enabled over 7,000 underprivileged youths to attend a Chicago Fire game at Toyota Park.

In 2012, our players left their cleats on the field to give back to the community in many different ways, becoming role models, mentors, advocates and champions for the various causes they support. Fire midfielder Michael Videira continues to sit on the Junior Board for Urban Initiatives and has been involved with many of their student initiatives. In September 2012, MLS W.O.R.K.S. named Fire captain Logan Pause “Humanitarian of the Month” for his work with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as an MLS Ambassador. Our players dedicate countless hours throughout the season, giving back to the community through appearances at schools, hospitals, clinics and various community organizations.

Along with the players, our supporters, sponsors, and front office staff are tireless in their efforts to give back to the community in the name of the Club, and they all continue to make a lasting impression throughout Chicagoland.

As we look ahead to 2013, we are excited by the new opportunities and experiences we will share together. On behalf of the Chicago Fire Soccer Club and all those who benefit from your dedication and commitment, we extend a heartfelt thank you.

Sincerely,

Andrew Hauptman, Owner

Twice during the 2012 season, Fire supporters had the chance to bid on commemorative Chicago Fire jerseys from each member of the team, using a text-to-bid platform. During the April 28 Chicago Fire vs. Seattle Sounders FC game, the player’s jerseys featured green names and numbers along with a special patch to help highlight the Fire’s “Going Green” initiatives. The second game was the October 27 Chicago Fire vs. D.C. United game.

To highlight the Fire’s partnership with MLS W.O.R.K.S. in promoting Breast Cancer Awareness these jerseys featured pink names and numbers and a special patch. Every winner was given the opportunity to have the Fire player whose jersey they won personally autograph the new piece of memorabilia after the game. The funds raised benefitted the Chicago Fire Foundation, which supports the Chicagoland community.

The Bank of America Chicago Marathon is one of the five World Marathon Majors. One of the fastest growing marathon road races in the world, in 2012 the race drew over 50,000 runners. On October 7, the Chicago Fire Foundation participated in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon Charity Program with 22 runners. In addition to completing the incredible challenge of running 26.2 miles, members of Team Chicago Fire Foundation raised over $18,000 to benefit the Foundation. The runners were honored on field during halftime of the Chicago Fire vs. D.C. United game on October 27.

The winner received half of all proceeds raised that game, and the other half went to the charitable organization that sold the tickets. With the help of these organizations, the Foundation was able to raise more than $55,000. The following organizations

benefited from the 50/50 Raffle fundraiser in 2012: Almost Home Kids, Amundsen High School, AYSO, Bethel College Men’s Soccer Team, Beyond the Ball, Carl Schurz High School, Chicago Area Runners Association, Feria Cultural,

GLASA, Grand FC Mustangs, Naperville Jaycees, Rotary Club of Moraine Valley, Round Lake AYSO, The House Church, Windy City Stars, Zion AYSO

Again in 2012, supporters were offered the opportunity to purchase commemorative bricks allowing them to leave their mark at TOYOTA PARK and in Chicago Fire history. Bricks were strategically positioned near the main entrance of TOYOTA PARK. All proceeds from the Commemorative Brick program benefited the Chicago Fire Foundation.

IN STADIUM

KICKS FOR KIDS

The Kicks for Kids program enables individuals to support underprivileged children by giving them the opportunity to experience the excitement of a Chicago Fire game at TOYOTA PARK. Throughout the 2012 season, over 7,000 children from 35 local youth-based organizations were provided this opportunity. For many of the children, this was their first time experiencing a Major League Soccer game.

ST. JUDE CHILDREN’SRESEARCH HOSPITAL

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is an organization with a mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. LLS has dedicated itself to being one of the top-rated voluntary health agencies in terms of dollars that directly fund their mission. In 2012, the Chicago Fire Foundation partnered with the LLS for their Soccer Kicks for Cancer program. Youth soccer players solicited pledges for every time the player touched a soccer ball over a ten-day period, with the goal of 2,000 touches. In support of Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s great cause and their alignment with our values, the Chicago Fire Foundation donated nearly $10,000 in 2012.

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is internationally recognized for its pioneering research and treatment of children with cancer and other life-threatening diseases. As a part of the MLS W.O.R.K.S. Soccer Kicks Cancer

campaign, Chicago Fire captain Logan Pause was recognized as the September “Humanitarian of the Month” for his work with St. Jude as one of four MLS ambassadors. St. Jude also had a presence at the September 22

Chicago Fire vs. Columbus Crew game. A longtime St. Jude patient and her sister were recognized on field and were player escorts for Logan Pause prior to the game.

PASSBACK PROGRAM

The Chicago Fire and the Chicago Fire Foundation, in conjunction with the U.S. Soccer Foundation, once again participated in the Passback Program. The Passback Program allows individuals to donate new or gently used

soccer equipment, which is then passed back to youth soccer programs in the community. At the September 15 Chicago Fire vs. Montreal Impact game, the Chicago Fire Foundation held a Passback drive, collecting over 3,000

pieces of equipment. Since its inception, the program has grown enormously and thousands of pieces of equipment have been collected and distributed to schools, clubs and youth organizations across the nation.

From a small school in Zimbabwe to an after-school program in inner-city Chicago, Passback gear has found its way to all corners of the globe.
