From the President:
Your board has approved a new five year agreement with Comcast for cable TV services.
Our bylaws specify that a “duly franchised cable television service obtained pursuant to a bulk contract shall be deemed a common expense.” As such, the board has a responsibility to provide such service and assess all units for its cost. After reviewing other available options, it was determined that Comcast remained our best option. The new contract, which takes effect December 1, calls for a small increase in cost to $24.95/month/unit. However, it includes a free digital receiver. That’s the big box that began as free and now costs each of us $5.00/month. Sandalwood’s community cost is about half of what an individual homeowner pays for the same service. We thank Sandra Marsocci for leading negotiations for the new contract. Individual units are welcome to add more service packages, phone service, or internet service by
dealing direct with Comcast. You are also allowed to install a satellite dish but must have board approval for location.

ADVANCED MOBILE HOME SYSTEMS
Everybody loves the 4th of July and this was evident with the turnout for the Sandalwood picnic held in the clubhouse and on the new pavilion. Red, white & blue were the colors of the day and this was evident by most everyone's attire plus the decorations in the hall. The tables were
colorful with small American flags and silver sparkling firecrackers.
Tony Maldonato started off the afternoon leading the Pledge of Allegiance and then a little community sing-along followed, setting the fun pace for the day. Everyone always seems to enjoy the singing and a little twist to "Your A Grand Old Flag"
managed to get everyone participating.
Many sat outside on the new pavilion and enjoyed it immensely. It was so nice
that the pavilion was more or less christened on the 4th of July.
The food was exceptionally good this year and this was evident by the happy faces of those partaking. The menu was enhanced by homemade beans by Charlie Kane and homemade cupcakes by Janet
Wnek, Judy McLochlin and Rayolyn Bliss.
Bingo was played after lunch and this is always enjoyable, Rich and Pat keep up a line of fun chatter and manage to get some fun chatter back from the players. After the games it was announced that everyone in the hall was on the cleanup committee. This was accepted very graciously and sure enough each and
everyone did their part and the hall was ship shape very quickly.
A sure sign of a successful day is when so many, many go out of their way to say what a good time they
had. This is the only Sandalwood summer activity and is a good time to mix with the neighbors.

BETSY ROSS IS OFFICIAL
Judy McLochlin has been at it
again, mending the flags around the
park. She has now been officially dubbed
"Betsy Ross" and will be the only person allowed to
keep the flags in A-One condition.
Atta Way to Go Judy!!!!!!!
(President’s message continued from page 1)
Another board action was in response to a request from an under 55 year old person to occupy the mobile home that he had inherited. The Board has the responsibility to consider such cases as long as we are over 80% in compliance with the “over 55 rule”. The board denied the request in order to remain 100% in compliance. He does have the unit for sale and we expect that it will be sold very soon. Marietta reported that there have been 15 unit sales already this year, more than we normally have in a full year. There are now only 5 for sale along with three shares offered by SPH. Buy them before they’re gone. We’re the best deal in retirement communities. Sandalwood Park is a beautiful, well maintained place. To keep it attractive we are closing the pool September 4 – 13 for a major cleaning. With a new Pavilion and well maintained pool, the area will be well used this season. I’m getting anxious to be back in Sandalwood and plan to be return before the end of October. Carl Van Gilst

THANKS TO A GREAT COMMITTEE
Many thanks to the following for their help with
putting on the 4th of July Picnic:
Without the help from Richard Wnek and Pat McLochlin there would be no picnic. They helped decorate, did all the cooking (in 95
degrees) and ran the Bingo games.
Janet Wnek, Judy McLochlin and Rayolyn Bliss make all the cupcakes and Charlie Kane made all the beans. All four did a myriad of other things from decorating, collecting the
money, organizing the food and serving.
Sylvia Buchanan and Pat Stevens helped serve along with Louise and Tony Maldonato. Lois and Ken ran the 50/50. Roger Bliss was in charge of all the Bingo supplies, distribution
and collection. Dorothy Bostic helped cleanup.
