North of Bromsgrove, Wythall’s TransportMuseum offers fine examples of buses andbattery electric vehicles, plus a miniaturesteam railway (operating selected days).

In Redditch, visit Forge Mill Needle Museum,to learn how 90% of the world’s needles wereonce produced in the town and the adjacentruins of medieval Bordesley Abbey. They were an important part ofWorcestershire’s industrial historylinking the salt mining industry to theRiver Severn and the Birmingham-WorcesterCanal, which together make up theMid Worcestershire Ring.

The ring allows boats, cyclists and walkers tomake a 21-mile circular journey throughsome of the Britain’s most beautiful andhistoric countryside. As part of the canalrestoration project, a linear park has beencreated providing picnic sites, fishing pegs,and new stop off points for boaters, walkersand cyclists. Miles of towpath have also beenupgraded, with new and improved accesspoints and 26 new visitor moorings. The areais also rich in wildlife so everyone can enjoythe sights and sounds of nature up close.

CYCLINGThe ring is linked up to the National CycleNetwork so you can also enjoy many otherplaces in Worcestershire as well as using theNetwork as a sustainable transport method.

WATER-SPORTSGo kayaking along the river and canals toimmerse yourself in the peace and tranquillityof the Ring, get up close to wildlife and enjoythe countryside as you move along.

WILDLIFEThe river and canalnetwork is hometo an abundanceof wildlife and theConey MeadowReed Bed is athriving wildlifehabitat located closeto the quiet little village of Salwarpe.The site supports a wide range of plants,birds, mammals and insects including otters,reed buntings, reed warblers and bats.
