The University of Nebraska–Lincoln is a Big Ten, land-grant university
ranked among the nation’s top 50 public universities.
The university’s momentum is evident in its enrollment growth - with the highest enrollment in the university’s history in
2015 - its expanding national and international presence, and in its increases in research expenditures.
Perhaps the most visible marker of growth is the development of Nebraska Innovation Campus (NIC), which celebrated its grand opening in October 2015. The research and development campus is designed to connect private business with the research engine of the university in order to develop market-able discoveries that feed the economy and stimulate job growth. The core buildings of Innovation Campus include a Food Innovation Center, a Greenhouse Innovation Center and Innovation Commons. At full build-out, NIC will be a 2.2-million square-foot sustainable campus with uniquely designed build-ings and amenities that inspire creative activity and engage-ment, transforming ideas into global innovation.
Students, faculty and staff thrive in and around the dynamic community of Lincoln, which has earned rankings that are sparking interest outside the state:
8th in the nation in 2015 for ‘best downtown’ (Livability.com)
#1 U.S. city for quality of life (The Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index, 2012)
#1 in America’s Healthiest Small Cities (Daily Finance, 2014)
6th Best Place for Business and Careers (Forbes, 2014)
7th Best City for College Students (among cities with 250,000–1,000,000 residents) (American Institute for Economic Research, 2015)
The University of Nebraska–Lincoln continues to grow in struc-ture, strength and stature, accelerating its role in the key areas of teaching, research and outreach in order to enhance life in our state, nation and the world.
