Matthew W. Barzun has been America’s ambassador to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland since 2013. Previously he served as U.S. Ambassador to Sweden from 2009-2011.

He was a pioneer in the early days of the internet, becoming the fourth employee of CNET Networks in 1993 and working there until 2004 in a variety of roles including Chief Strategy Officer and Executive Vice President.

Before the President’s election in 2008, Ambassador Barzun was among the first to join Barack Obama’s National Finance Committee where he produced the first $25 per-person fundraiser and helped teach Obama University for campaign volunteers. President Obama selected him as National Finance Chair for his 2012 re-election campaign.

Ambassador Barzun has served on the boards of many non-profits focused on education, public policy, and interfaith relations. He lives in London with his wife, three children and their dog, Lincoln, and Kentucky remains his home. □

Rosalind Brewer is president and CEO of Sam’s Club, a division of Wal-Mart Stores Inc., and the 8th largest U.S. retailer with revenues of $58 billion for fiscal year 2015. The members-only warehouse club channel has more than 110,000 associates and 653 clubs nationwide.

Brewer joined Walmart in 2006 as a regional vice president, ascending to her current role in 2012—and making history by becoming the first woman, and the first African American, to lead a Walmart division. Prior to Sam’s Club, Brewer built an illustrious 22-year career at Kimberly-Clark, advancing from scientist to President of the Global Nonwovens Sector.

Forbes recently listed Brewer as the 65th most powerful woman in the world and included her in its 2014 annual ranking of the World’s 100 Most Powerful Black Women. She consistently appears on Fortune’s 50 Most Powerful Women in Business list (#15 this year) and has been repeatedly named one of the Most Powerful Working Moms by Working Mother.

She chairs the Board of Trustees at Spelman College and sits on the board of directors for Lockheed Martin Corporation. □

Barbara Byrne is a Vice Chairman in the Banking Division at Barclays. Based in New York, Ms. Byrne leads the firm’s global relationships with a diverse group of multinational corporate clients.

For the past five years, she has been ranked by American Banker as one of the 25 Most Powerful Women in Finance. Ms. Byrne is a member of Barclays’ Senior Leadership Group and is Chairman of the Barclays’ Social Innovation Facility, a cross-business resource dedicated to the development of self-sustaining commercial solutions to social challenges.

She is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the Women’s Forum of New York and The Women’s Forum for the Economy & Society, and serves on the New York City Board of the British-American Business Council. She also serves as a trustee of Mount Holyoke College. □

Named as one Fortune’s 2014 World’s 50 Greatest Leaders, Mr. Chenault joined American Express Company as Strategic Planning Director in 1981, later becom-ing President of the Consumer Card Group, and President of Travel Related Services. He later assumed responsibility for the company’s worldwide card/ travel businesses and became Vice Chairman. Mr. Chenault became President/COO in 1997, assuming responsibilities as CEO and Chairman in 2001. Before American Express, Mr. Chenault was a manage-ment consultant with Bain & Co., and an attorney with Rogers & Wells.

Mr. Chenault serves on the boards of American Express, IBM, Procter & Gamble, Harvard Corporation, and numerous civic, cultural and charitable organizations. He serves on the Business Council, the Business Round-table and the Partnership for New York. American Express was ranked among 2015’s top Most Admired Companies.

He has been honored for distinguished contributions to public service, corporate responsibility, and civic leadership. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Mr. Chenault holds a JD from Harvard Law School and a BA from Bowdoin College. □

Lord Davies is a Partner and the Chairman of Corsair Capital, a private equity firm specialising in financial ser-vices. He has a wide range of interests, including being Chairman of the Royal Academy of Arts Trustees, Chairman of Jack Wills and Chairman of the Garden Bridge Trust. He was Minister for Trade, Investment, Small Business and Infrastructure from January 2009 until May 2010.

Prior to that, he was Chairman and previously CEO, and served on the Board of Standard Chartered for over 12 years.

He was awarded a CBE for his services to the financial sector and the communi-ty in Hong Kong in June 2002 where he served as a member of the HK Exchange fund for seven years. Lord Davies is also a JP in Hong Kong.

Lord Davies is married with two children and is a fluent Welsh speaker. □

Eve Ellis is senior partner in The Matterhorn Group, a full-service wealth advisory group developing and executing sophisticated financial and philanthropic plans for individuals, businesses and nonprofit institutions. Michelle Edkins is a Managing Director at BlackRock and Global Head of its Corporate Governance and Responsible Investment team of 22 specialists based in five key regions internationally. He is a former senior independent director of Man Group and acting chairman of UKFI. From 1987 to 1991 he served as chief executive of Fidelity International. Before that he was a group executive at Citigroup, where he spent 18 years in Europe and Asia.

He is a governor of The Ditchley Founda-tion and a director of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Glen graduated from Stanford University, and Harvard Law School, and held a Rotary Foundation Fellowship at Delhi University. □

Connecticut’s chief elected financial officer, Denise Nappier, manages more than $54 billion in state funds, and is one of the few State Treasurers to have principal fiduciary authority, in this case of the state’s $30 billion Retirement Plans and Trust Funds. She is known for shareholder activism, negotiating for independence and diversity on boards, executive compensation, financial reporting, global labor standards, and financial risks of climate change. Susanna Schrobsdorff is an assistant managing editor and columnist for TIME. She has a dual role as editorial liaison for the sales and marketing teams working on brand strategy as well as covering topics ranging from family dynamics to prostitution and education.

Previously, she was the Editorial Director for Newsweek Digital where she oversaw the magazine’s daily news coverage and expanded some of the site’s most successful franchises including America’s Best High Schools. She joined Newsweek.com in 2005 as a business and technology editor after an eight year hiatus from journalism during which she raised two daughters and taught creative writing to at-risk teen girls in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. She began her career at TIME as a college intern. In 1990, she began a five-year assignment as a Newsdesk Editor in Paris and Brussels, where she revamped bureau technology, managed logistics for TIME’s Olympics team as well as covering gymnastics and figure skating.

Schrobsdorff is the winner of a New York Press Club award for Outstanding Web Coverage and four Front Page Awards for Cultural Commentary, Interactive Journalism and Video Journalism. □

Mary Jo White was sworn in as the 31st Chair of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in April 2013, following decades as a federal prose-cutor and securities lawyer. The only woman to hold the office of U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, she specialized in prosecuting complex securities and financial institution frauds and international terrorism cases. She later became chair of the litigation department at New York’s Debevoise & Plimpton.

Among her numerous awards: Chambers USA Women in Law Awards Regulatory Lawyer of the Year, Margaret Brent Women Lawyers of Achievement Award, George W. Bush Award for Excellence in Counterterrorism, Sandra Day O’Connor Award for Distinction in Public Service, and Women of Power and Influence Award from the National Organization for Women.

Chair White is a fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers and International College of Trial Lawyers. She served on the NASDAQ Stock Exchange and the Council on Foreign Relations. She earned a B.A. from William & Mary, M.S in psychology from The New School for Social Research, and law degree from Columbia. □

She appeared on the cover of Fortune Magazine, and The Financial Times selected her as an Outstanding Corporate Director. In 2015, she received the Presidential Medal of Honor from Dillard University and in 2007, the Distinguished Alumna Award from Columbia University Women in Business. Ms. Roché authored The Empress Has No Clothes…Conquering Self-Doubt to Embrace Success, a personal memoir offering strategies for high-achieving leaders.

Ms. Roché is a graduate of New Orleans’ Dillard University, holds an MBA from Columbia University, and completed Stanford’s Senior Executive Program. She serves as Lead Director on the BoD of AT&T and sits on the board of Macy’s, Tupperware Brands, Dr. Pepper/Snapple, the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges, and the BoT of Dillard University. □
