This sound was often placed in opposition to progressive rock. What kind of reaction to the end of the 1960s is this? How do  you compare this song with “Court of the Crimson King?” 1970 Led Zeppelin Stairway to Heaven One of the biggest bands of the 1970s, they were claimed both by Progressive Rockers and Hard Rockers. How does this song straddle the line  between progressive rock and hard ro ck? 1971 David Bowie Changes While both progressive rock and hard rock dealt  with forms of harder masculinity, David Bowie represents the rise of a form of rock challenging  traditional notional of masculinity: glam rock.
