A.I.B was present on both sides of the partition, however removal of the
other side was outside of the client’s scope of works therefore the internal
face was encapsulated with ET-150 Co-polymer emulsion paint, labelled &
left in situ.

PETE represents a process encompassing Health & Safety, risk assessment and project management. PETE assists in ensuring that all aspects of a project are managed safely.Below are a few of the PETE considerations taken into account on this project.
[This PETE is where those planning a project ask about the impact of People, Environment, Tools and Exposure to the project. Includes Client discussions, site surveying, estimating or consultancy]. -The removal of the AIB falls under licensed asbestos works, this means it could only be carried out by a licensed asbestos contractor. The removal required a 14-day notification to be submitted to the Health & Safety executive prior to works taking place. Careful planning was required and Risk and method statements prepared prior to works commencing. Waste transit routes have to be taken into consideration in addition to parking for our decontamination unit. We were required to use a Modular Hygiene unit as appose to a Mobile D.C.U due to there being no external parking.
[This PETE is all of the people involved above who must have asbestos awareness training to ensure they are legally compliant for controlling the risks to People, Environment, Tools and Exposure]. -Once the remaining material (which the client was not instructed to get removed) was encapsulated the material was marked with asbestos warning labels, this allows the property owner to keep in line with the duty to manage the asbestos present on site. It also allows any workers or staff in the building to be aware of the risk which is present and to avoid disturbing the material.-Asbestos Surveys is a legal requirement for any Non-domestic building built before 2000 to hold an asbestos management survey. These surveys identify any asbestos within the building, and ascertain, monitor and record the potential risk of the material. Any asbestos present must have its condition checked annually (at very least).
[This PETE represents the safe removal of asbestos materials in compliance with current legislation and is also our reminder to assess all of the risks to our own staff of People, Environment, Tools and Exposure and not just the asbestos risk]. -Due to the fibrous nature of insulation board it must be removed in heavy-duty polythene enclosures with the use of airlocks & negative pressure to ensure control limits are not exceeded.-Four stage air monitoring is carried out on completion to confirm that no airborne fibres are present within the premises, the analytical certificate is then given to our client on completion.
