BENCHMARK REPORTFor the past five years, the Downtown Alliance has compiled a comprehensive benchmark report that evaluates the state of downtown’s economy in partnership with CBRE. The report includes an analysis of development, employment, o�ce market, residential, hospitality, retail, culture, transportation and quality of life. We will continue to produce this report to encourage additional economic activity and investment downtown.22% OF DOWNTOWN OFFICE SPACE OCCUPIED BY TECHNOLOGY FIRMS

URBAN EXPLORATIONFor the past four years, the Downtown Alliance has hosted business and political leaders on three-day trips to other urban centers to build relationships and inspire new ideas for Utah’surban core. Past visits include New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Boston. We will go to Minneapolis in 2018.OVER 50 ATTENDEES

ADVOCACYWe work closely with Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, EDCUtah, Visit Salt Lake, GOED, State leaders and the Salt Lake Chamber to build a downtown that is the center of culture, commerce and entertainment. We are at the nexus of public and private sector interests in building a successful downtown and facilitate dialogue and understanding between diverse stakeholders.STAFF SERVES ON OVER 50 COMMUNITY BOARDS

BANNERS & KIOSKSWe manage over 730 banners along many of downtown’s streets, as well as four kiosks on Main Street. Last year 41 nonprofit organizations took advantage of environmental advertising to promote their downtown events.2960 BANNERS HUNG DOWNTOWN

FUNDRAISINGThrough grants and corporate sponsorships we were able to extend public dollars and impact the reach for several programs: Dine O'Round, EVE, Garden Stroll, Urban Exploration, Art & Craft Market and our 25th anniversary gala. All received significant support from private sector partners.$1.3 MILLION RAISED THROUGH PRIVATE FUNDRAISING

EVENT SPONSORSHIPSDowntown is abuzz year-round with events. From Gallery Stroll to parades celebrating heritage and community to festivals featuring art, beer, pioneers or local crafts nary a week is voidof something exciting to do. We’re proud to support them with promotional, in-kind and monetary assistance.$50,000 CASH PLUS IN KIND SPONSORSHIPS

We continued management of the HOST meter program and online website, as well as continued our partnership with Advantage Services for the Clean Team. We expanded coverage to two full shifts on Saturday & Sunday. The Clean Team employs 22 homeless individuals to collect trash and do daily power washing in the Rio Grande neighborhood.

We also created the Green Team farm project that employs eight homeless women to work in a downtown urban farm while receiving job and life skills training. The farm is

managed by our partner Wasatch Community Gardens.

In 2017, we transitioned this successful program to a stand-alone nonprofit with a separate board, financials, marketing, fundraising and administrative support.

Eight artist-designed temporary public parks "popped-up" on Main Street from South Temple to 300 South. This six-week-long event featured diverse floral arrangements, each with a unique experience, to welcome the spring months to downtown. The goal of the Downtown Garden Stroll is to build upon one of the premier urban gardens in the west at Temple Square.

Since 1992, the Downtown Farmers Market has been the place for farmers and food purveyors to interact with residents of Salt Lake City and beyond. Several hundred vendors fill Pioneer Park each Saturday morning, providing income for farmers and a stronger community connection to food for local families.

The Downtown Art & Craft Market operates adjacent to the popular Downtown Farmers Market from June to October in Pioneer Park. The Downtown Art and Craft Market invites Utah artists to display and sell handmade arts and crafts.

This bi-weekly winter market is held at the Rio Grande Depot and includes an exciting mix of over 60 local vendors o�ering locally grown fresh produce, local meat, cheeses, dairy, baked goods, artisanal food, food trucks and more.

2,000 AVERAGE ATTENDANCE PER WEEK

Over 45 restaurants participated in our two-week restaurant promotion. Diners enjoy $5 or $10 two-item lunches and $15 or $30 three-course dinners andprovide restaurants the opportunity to increase foot tra�c and reach newpotential customers.

Holiday season visitors to downtown can hop-on and o� the FREE holiday themed Jingle Bus circulating between The Gateway, Temple Square and City Creek Center. Shoppers find service especially useful to connect downtown's two malls, enjoying the abundant holiday lights and storefront window decorations. The Downtown Alliance strings 25 miles of holiday lights on city streets Thanksgiving through the Sundance Film Festival.

Salt Lake City comes to life with EVE WinterFest, a three-day celebration December 29, 30 & 31 with concerts, DJs and engaging activities for kids and families. EVE-goers can discover everything that downtown has to o�er with one all-access pass to over a dozen venues. The MirrorBall was the focal point as the clock struck midnight.

It is the voice of business in promoting and determining projects and priorities for the future of downtown. We launched the 2017 Downtown Rising Action Plan with priorities to guide development for the next ten years.
