Parker Planeteers Blast off into a summer of fun!
No camp on July 4
Planeteers journey through imagination to places around the world and beyond! We’ll start our summer with a teddy bear and a passport, then off we go – each week to a new destination…wherever our imagination takes us! Artwork, songs and activities all reflect each week’s theme. Unstructured and well-supervised outdoor time exploring Parker’s grounds, as well as water play and a cooking activity will be featured each day.

Parker Planeteers – We use our imaginations to make summertime a magical time!
EXPLORE
Nature Builders
The forest is our studio in this week of creating art and structures from nature. Artists will work in teams to build larger-than-life sculptures, write and animate 3-D stories, and experiment with nature landscape scenes. We will use cameras and video to document and share our final creations.
SeanO’s Theatricks Camp Presents:
Once Upon a Mattress, Jr!
Adapted from Hans Christian Anderson’s classic fairytale “The Princess and the Pea,” this musical gem is romantic, melodic and hilariously raucous. Come sing along with us and put your own rollicking spin on this classic tale of courtship and comeuppance! Parents and friends are invited to the performance on Friday afternoon, June 21.
Bees, Bugs, & Butterflies
See what all the buzz is about in this week dedicated to the incredible insect! Grab a net and go on insect safari, construct a bee or butterfly home and take a bee’s eye-view into the world of astounding arthropods. We will learn basic beekeeping skills featuring Parker’s very-own resident honeybees. Campers will also spend time playing sports and games and enjoying the natural world at Parker.
Rockets!
Blast off! Design, construct and launch rocket ships of all types during this action-packed week on Planet Parker. Campers will begin with exploring the aerodynamics of everyday objects and end with a bang as they launch rockets that soar hundreds of feet in the air! Campers will also spend time playing sports and games and enjoying the natural world at Parker.
Animation Creations
Experiment with stop motion animation as we turn characters designed from clay, wire and found objects into moving stories. Artists will create characters, story lines and even sounds for their animation videos that might take place in the forest, on the playground, or in the sandbox! Campers will also spend time playing sports and games and enjoying the natural world at Parker.
Mission: Adventure
Your mission (should you decide to accept it...) is to tackle extreme-fun outdoor challenges! Adventurers will wrangle our woodsy low ropes course, race to solve forest scavenger hunts, navigate an extreme obstacle course, build shelters and campfires, swim at Snyders Lake and explore through the meadows, over the creeks and into the wilds of Planet Parker.
LEGO Robotics
Dream, design, build and program a robot of your own creation! During this high voltage week you will make your robot walk, dance, grab, “speak,” perform tasks and follow your every command. With the help of our LEGO Education certified instructor, you’ll design a blueprint, then make your robot a reality through imagination and skill with LEGOs in this challenging and exciting week.
Troll Huts & Fairy Houses
Create whimsical and unique abodes in the woods and meadows for magical creatures both miniature and mighty. Campers will create wee villages, petite parks, hobbit-sized highways and other structures that every elf, gnome and fairy will delight in. Using recycled items, natural building materials and even our own handmade micro-bricks, we will let our imaginations soar!
Survival!
The wild is calling! Campers will develop real-life survival skills: shelter building, firecraft, land navigation, tracking and foraging. Days will include survival techniques simulating the most extreme climates on earth! We will even explore signaling techniques and make water out of thin air. An optional overnight will expand nighttime senses and confidence.
Game Craze
Jump into the action while we play crazy-fun games like Freeze Mania, Scooter Ships, Chickens to the Rescue and Island Sinker. Build and navigate an extreme obstacle course! We will play with balls, hoops, Frisbees, eggs and water in the fields and stream, at the tree fort and on the playground while having tons of adventures!
The Tinker Lab
Join special guest “mad-scientist” Will Gill for this week of science and technology experimentation gone wild! We will build and test an extreme launching apparatus, design our own miniature steamboats and explore the art of painting with light. Campers will also spend time playing sports and games and enjoying the natural world at Parker.
Goop Soup 101
Exploding kitchens? Mystery powders? Baking supplies, cleaners and condiments have never been this much fun! We’ll make inks, potions, pastes, explosions and putties and share new uses for everyday kitchen staples. Cool chemistry! Campers will also spend time playing sports and games and enjoying the natural world at Parker.
Parker on Safari
Attention all animal lovers! Go down-under as we explore the woods and wetlands for wildlife of all types; slippery, slimy, furry and feathered. We will play games like Predator-Prey, Camoflauge and Quick-Frozen Critters, design our own animal portraits and go on a field trip to Adirondack Animal Land to see over 500 animals and take an African Safari Ride!
Funky Junk
Create wondrous works of art from recycling bin remnants and trash can rejects! We will upcycle food containers into “Garbage Monsters,” make litter portraits inspired by junk-artist Vik Muñiz and create a pop-up landscape from recycled materials. Campers will also spend time playing sports and games and enjoying the natural world at Parker. Parents and friends are invited to tour the Funky Junk Museum at the end of this week.
ArtVentures
From real cave paintings and clay pottery to giant art canvases and photography, campers will immerse themselves in every media imaginable. We will experiment with art styles from Ancient Egypt to Jackson Pollack as we re-create a whole world of art and its history in one short week. Creative juices will be flowing – guaranteed! Parents and friends are invited to the Art Instal-lation and Gallery Opening on Friday afternoon.
