UCIGranFondoWorldSeries(UGFWS)

EventOverviewTheGreyCountyRoadRace&TimeTrial(June15th&17th,2017)willbethesoleCanadianqualifiereventsforthe2017UCIGranFondoWorldSeries.In2011theUCIcreatedtheUCIGFWS(rebrandedin2016fromtheUWCT–UCIWorldCyclingTour)asaseriesofUCI-sanctionedracesheldallovertheworld.Feedingintothe2017GranFondoWorldChampionshipsthatarebeingheldinformAug24-27thinAlbi,France,therearenineteenqualifiereventsupfromfourteenin2016.Inthequalifiereventsthetop25%fromeachagegroupwillqualifyfortheAmateurWorldChampionships,wherethechampionswillbeawardedwiththecovetedrainbowjersey.

• Anelitelicensewithexceptionof:o AnyriderwhohasduringthecurrentyearbeenamemberofateamregisteredwiththeUCI.o Anyriderwhohastakenpartinaworldchampionship,theOlympicgames,continentalchampionshipsorgames,

regionalgames,theCommonwealthgames,oraWorldCupduringthecurrentyear,otherthaneventsformasters.o AnyriderwhohasUCIpointsinanydisciplineatthemomentoftheevent.

• Masterlicense• Cyclingforalllicense

ParticipantsintheWorldChampionshipsneedtohaveanationalElite/Amateur/Master/CyclingforalllicensefromaUCIaffiliatedfederation.AccordingtoUCIregulations,riderswithUCIpointsarenotallowedtotakepartinUGFWSqualifiersortheUCIGranFondoWorldChampionships.AgegroupsTheeventsofferresultsin8differentagegroups(rider'sageonDecember31stofthatyear),forbothwomenandmen:

• 19-34y • 35-39y • 40-44y • 45-49y• 50-54y • 55-59y • 60-64y • +65y

Aqualifiereventcanalwaysorganizeaseparateagecategoryabove70,75...andifmorethan6ridersregister,theticketsgrantedfortheWorldChampionshipsarealsogiventothisagecategory.IntheWorldChampionships,anadditionaljerseyandmedalswillonlybegiventothewinnersofthesecategoriesifmorethan6ridersregister.The8titlesoftheabovementionedagegroupsarealwaysawarded,eveniflessthan6ridersregister.GrantingofparticipationrightsfortheAmateurWorldChampionshipsEachUGFWSeventwillgrantparticipationrightsfortheUCIGranFondoWorldChampionships.Bytheendofeachrace,thefirst25%athletesofeachagegroupwillbeawardedwithguaranteedentrytotheGranFondoWorldChampionshipsandbeabletoracefortheWorldChampiontitle.ThefirstthreeofeachagecategorywillalwaysqualifydirectlyfortheWorldChampionships,independentofthenumberofstartersinthatagegroup.Ridershavetofinishtheracetobequalified.The25%iscalculatedbasedonthenumberofstarters,notonthenumberoffinishedriders.ThewinnersoftheslotswillbeannouncedontheUCIGranFondoWorldSerieswebsiteandwillbeinvitedbye-mail.• • QualifiereventshostingonlyaroadracewillgrantparticipationrightsforboththeGranFondoWorldChampionshipsandTime

• GearrestrictionswillbeineffectforU19categories.• UGFWSparticipantscanchooseanybiketheywant(roadbike,mountainbike,citybike,hybridbike,crossbike)withthe

exceptionoftandembikeorrecumbent.Westronglyrecommendtheuseofaroadbike.• Timetrialbikesareforbidden.• Handlebarextensionsincludingtime-trialbarextensionsorothertypesoftri-barsarenotpermitted.• Discwheelsarenotpermitted.

isnomedicalreasonwhytheparticipantshouldbeunabletopracticecycling)issuedbyanationalcyclingfederationaffiliatedtotheUCI
